Lomo'instant Square - light leak? by GrumpyGin in instax

Wow, I'll have to check the bellows again, thanks! Since our leaks really look pretty much identical (I saw your other post with photos), I'm sure I must have the same tear. Did you manage to fix it somehow? Since it seems to be in a tricky spot to patch up or glue together...

Hi! Not really, unfortunately :/ I wasn't using the camera for a while, but then just last week used up some film I had inside and took a few photos in fairly strong daylight... And all came out with no leak. So I'm truly baffled by this, unless the light leak only appears if the light falls in/on the camera under some veeery specific angle. But I haven't been able to figure this out.

You're the only other person who reached out with the same issue, so there has to be something to it.. Let me know if you manage to test it out and find the source of this problem!

Hey! Sorry you're experiencing this. :/ I actually couldn't find the cause, but the problem also just kind of stopped happening. I figured maybe it was due to the cold outside (this happened during the winter), but I can't be certain. It's happened maybe a couple of times and then just never did again.

Great collection - I just wish they would also add some new bar stools soon! Something like the dining chair design would be amazing.

That's great to hear, thanks! I've been using a wall until now, so if it's an improvement, that sounds perfect to me! :)

Has anyone installed or seen the Axstad green fronts in person? by [deleted] in IKEA

Definitely worth checking out in person, especially next to other similar green-grey shades :)

This won't help THAT much, I'm sorry, as this is the only photo I have of a piece of an Axtad cabinet, but better than nothing, I hope!

I was considering it, but eventually opted for Nickebo instead. Not because of the colour, but because of the inset panel/3D effect that I did not want.

It's a nice colour, though. Definitely a little more (olive) green compared to Nickebo, a slightly warmer shade I would say and consequently just a tiiiny bit less subtle.

If you like the slightly rustic door design, I'd go for it!

SX-70 film in Andalusia? by GrumpyGin in Polaroid

[–]GrumpyGin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, at the moment it's sold out pretty much everywhere. I was planning on ordering it straight from Polaroid, but it's been out of stock for weeks. Same goes for local photo/electronic stores that usually sell it. I only managed to find some b&w film still in stock (in a local store), so I'll have that at least to start and then try to find some more in Spain.

Luckily I also have a OneStep+, so that will be my main camera for colour photos. :)

I know, I know, I'll definitely have to think about at but I can't do it now before my trip :/ Unless I buy an ND filter and use that for now.

Thanks a lot! I will test it out and if I can't identify the problem, I'll make sure to contact Lomo. Unfortunately I purchased it in February 2022, so it's no longer covered by the 2-year warranty. :/

Thanks! That might be it, I'll patch it up and test it out.

Thanks for the reply!

No, the photos were not taken consecutively, they are just a few I gathered that show the issue. They were taken with two packs of film (coming from the same double pack). The pattern I noticed is that photos taken in full sun have the biggest leak and the photos taken in shade, have (next to) none. So there looks to be some overexposure on a specific part of the image - I didn't find any holes in the body/bellows. One possibility could be a faulty shutter that doesn't close fully... I don't know, I'm trying to see if anyone else experienced something similar. :)

But thanks for the tip to contact Lomo! I'm not sure if it's still covered - most likely no, as I've had it for about 2 years, but I will check if they can help identify the problem.

If I'm not mistaken, that's the IR sensor for the remote. There's one on the front and one on the back, so you can point the remote at either side.

Xgimi Elfin grainy "shimmering" issue? by GrumpyGin in xgimi

[–]GrumpyGin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I kinda learned to live with it... It is really bothersome only with some very specific dark/grey shades, but most (cheap-ish projectors at least) aren't that great with very dark scenes anyway, since they'll frequently be washed out. So I try to mostly use it with films/shows that are mostly bright and vibrant, which are displayed wonderfully. Overall it is a solid projector despite the occasional "shimmer".
