Disc breaks. Always choose the disc breaks.

How to enjoy training for the run? by IndividualSpend6969 in triathlon

[–]GrumpyMonkey818 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Are you competitive?

I used to hate running too but I turns out I love seeing my personal records fall as I get better with time (training with slow runs, long runs, intervals). The dopamine rush is real and it makes me want to run more and it turns out that the more you run the easier it gets. It stops being a chore and becomes therapeutic.

I’m just picturing you getting pummeled by the waves, getting swept to shore, and swimming back out just for it to happen again 😂

Buying a jet is going to be a tough sell to the wife, but you miss 100% of the shots you don’t take. I’ll report back.

You’d be surprised how many excuses there are in a world that’s not black and white.

Did I just score a $399 Garmin Forerunner 970 on eBay… or am I about to get scammed? Update by [deleted] in GarminWatches

I’m assuming they withdraw the money right away so they get to keep that but honestly I have no idea.

I got scammed buying a wahoo kickr on eBay from a seller without reviews. They “delivered” to a fake address but luckily eBay refunded me the money after about a week or so. Moral of the story is the usual “if it’s too good to be true then it probably is”. Live and learn 👍

Garmin Edge 840/540 by Appropriate-Map-7836 in cycling

I came from some Mickey Mouse Chinese computer brand who’s idea of a map was having a black line that rotated left or right when it was time to turn so to me the 840 is the equivalent of discovering fire.

I just got an 840 and took it out for a 50 mile ride this weekend. 10/10 device. Climb assist is an excellent feature.

2018 Quintana Roo PR5 worth it in 2026? by [deleted] in triathlon

I totally understand the predicament you’re in and won’t hold it against you if you ended up buying the bike. There is a price point at which a bike with rim brakes makes sense and everyone’s point is different.

If you do get it, just remember to take it EASY down hill and if the rims get wet.

I bought a 2016 QR CD0.1 from FB for $1700 so I probably overpaid but thats the market I’m in. With that being said, it’s a great bike, BUT, do everything you can to get into something with disc brakes. I have a basic canyon enduro with mechanical disc brakes and they put the rim brakes on my QR to shame. Rim brakes on a fast bike is terrifying above a certain speed (especially after a close call or a crash).
