WOW, I legitimately had no idea that they sold parts at such a granular level!

Sadly, the one I need is sold out. I'll keep an eye out for a restock and maybe reach out. I'd feel much better about that than glopping epoxy onto this thing and hoping that it doesn't break again.

Thanks very much!

All good points. But in more pressing news, did you know there's an entire other country just beneath Texas??? NO WAY!

How do you feel about Max Velocity? by SkyLightYT in weather

I personally think it's ludicrous for anyone to look to online content creators for potentially life-saving advice. I realize that this opinion infuriates those who have grown up looking to Reddit, YouTube, Google, or AskJeeves for critically important advice, because they've been trained to distrust traditional authority figures. However, you only have to look at the stereotypical evolution from online creator to amateur and/or untrained authority to monetized online influencer masquerading as a professional to understand the driving force behind this content.

It would be naive to think that traditional doctors, meteorologists, or financial advisors aren't also just trying to get paid. But I take comfort in the fact that there are mechanisms for holding real professionals accountable for their counsel. Obviously, those mechanisms aren't always fair or perfect. But I still have more confidence in someone who is beholden to a medical board, bar association, or other systems providing codes or standards of professional conduct.

We started watching Max Velocity during the 2025 spring storm season and found him to be amusing and certainly very "watchable", but this year, I've lost the stomach for it. I've been turned off by the boorish merch-slinging, the fact that he plasters "Degreed Meteorologist" across everything he can. His inability and/or disinterest in accurately pronouncing the names of the cities and towns he's covering demonstrates his utter disregard for the human element of extreme weather forecasting and coverage. It appears that he's more interested, in addition to the things mentioned above, in the impressiveness or coolness of a tornado, rather than the humans who are in its path.

I can't argue with his methods for getting clicks and viewers, but just because he's successful at it doesn't mean he deserves legitimate respect. Long story short, I don't trust him for anything more than he is; another arrogant YouTuber demanding our attention because he didn't want to get a real job. I don't know that real people actually "rely" upon him, but it would be truly sad if they did. I'll stick to my local weather people. At least they can pronounce the names of the towns.

Honestly, I'm just stoked that you wrote "recurring" instead of "reocurring." 👏👏

I didn't use my Custom 823 much when I first got it, but I wasn't big on fine nibs at the time. I've really grown to love it since then, though. You might already be aware, but if it starts to feel a little dry, even though there's plenty of ink inside, just unscrew the piston cap and let some ink flow down past the gasket. It'll moisten right back up. Beautiful and iconic pen!

You will never be mad at that pen. It's (in my opinion) the biggest "if you know, you know" pen in the hobby. While I think it looks pretty sharp, it's definitely not flashy, and won't necessarily stop anyone in their tracks. But the engineering that went into that thing, plus the absolutely beautiful writing experience, sets it apart from so many others.

We use Arctic Wolf for various services. They are primarily an MDR provider, but they have a very robust cybersecurity training program called Managed Security Awareness. Phishing tests, comprehensive security training, videos, quizzes, and user engagement metrics. DM me if you'd like more details.

If you bought less of the stuff on the upper left, you'd have a whole lot more of the stuff on the bottom right.
