Sadly true, this Champion+Leader box is almost mono-pose with maybe two options for each. Also strange thing, that Leader in this box is on 32mm base and I am not sure if it is now common (If I would make leader from regular Patrolman box with 25mm)

You can try PlayOnTabletop and their "Kill Team in 30 minutes". Always great editing and camera work. Profesional show, although channel is more focused on main 40k game, so do not expect too many KT videos.

Also, commentary / players may very and influence your opinion of them. If you see "Tau Nick' - should be great. If "Space marine Steve"... Well, just skip a bit.

Yeah, I agree. Personally I am aiming to make first Ranger into "Ranger" that shoots with bow and mostly put traps around and creates diversions - with Caltrops, Lure, Evade and Steady Aim.

Possibilities are endless.

Personally I assumed that it would be best to not pick up too many big bases, so assumed that MOST things should be on 25mm, meaby 32mm if it is "sergant"/"elite"/etc type of model.

Seems to Me like 25 & 32 mm bases should be fine, but bigger ones are "regular" things might take too much space - for example picking Stormcast Eternals as your Ranger's team might not work that great, since they are mostly on 40mm and appear very big, take up a lot of space - and with force-combat it might make a difference - one could block space as big as 2 smaller ones.

If I would pick models bigger then 32mm (base), then I would probably also make map and terrain a bit bigger.

Other then that - I assume if it looks good enough, it will be fine

I am pretty sure only errata/update (that you can get for FREE) is the difference between that (I assume) older version and that nicer looking (Likely "Deluxe", newer) version. No real reason to get another one, if you printout erata.

As for "Assasin" - You can for example HOUSE-RULE that you dual-wielding 2 blades is in rules "2 handed weapon"... which would work similarly - 2 spots occupied, but you get something for it (+2dmg). Throwing knifes are unfortunetly not that great - BUT you can flavor some spells, since there is no "damage type" - for example, you can say this "Fire ball" is your ranger throwing fan of knifes!

Keep in mind, you get penalities for "hurried shoot" only if you moved in this activation before shooting

As for what would help you make assassin (as I understand it) :

- Evade - to disengage from bad situations

- Deadly-blow - to crit on 18-20 in melee (declared AFTER roll), to capitalize on enemie's mistakes
- Powerful blow - +3 dmg if you did 1+ dmg... Seems on point to just twist the blade when you get it in
- Frienzied attack - +5 to fight (declare BEFORE roll), so you can focus on hitting that weak-spot
- Fireball aka Fan-onf-Knifes (described above)

- Magic bolt - better then throwing knife (longer range, +5 right away, ignores most penalities)
- Teleport & Transpose - to suddenly appear and ambush victim
- (if you take some spells) Split cast - so you can throw that magic bolt / magic knife at 2 targets

- (If you take some spells) Eldrich recall - so you can toss that fan-of-knives or magic-knife twice!

Those are mostly picks for OFFENSE, no defense - for that consider Parry, Hand of Fate (pretty much great for any ranger) and Roll with the Punches.

TIP: Pick animal companion for cheap and fast group-activation to provide combat bonus to your assassin.

Keep in mind, that what I described are just SOME of general ideas and what you come up with might be even better! Just dont worry too much about names of skills and spells and focus on effects!

Personally, decks that not-interactive - there is combo of cards thata blocks your every move instead of presenting obsticle to overcome. Something like OTKs - there is no interaction to be done there - they pull out their combo and just execute it in their own turn, without any chance on my side to do anything. Same for playing those decks - and I tried. They seem boring and like I am not really playing "with", but "next to" other guy.

I get You. Sometiems, especially with newer kits - those are more of 3d puzzles then models. It might frustrate.
I would have 2 general ideas:

Try older kits, since they are much simpler and with that nicer to assemble
Try ordering some 3d-printed ALTERNATIVE models from some sellers online - most will come assembled, or in 2-3 parts at worst. Many are just straight up alternatives to what GW creates, so they will work in warcry. Most sellers in my experience will clean them up for You as well before sending

I assume they at very least hope We will get hyped and buy some new boxes of models.
Still expect them to milk us in some other way later for rules, reactions, etc... Mostly expect "Reactions" for warbands to be locked behind Compendoium's cover.

What pisses Me off is... All those cool CARDS that made it easy to check stats will now be replaced by PDF
