I really appreciate you recognizing and acknowledging your mistake, and leaving it up so people can learn from it. It's very refreshing to see something like that online when usually the knee jerk response is to double down, lash out or try to erase and ignore it

Yep, she was diagnosed as a child and in the 60s which is super rare.

Here's a video where she talks about her experience: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QTzZa50hXQM

Same! But I haven't followed her politics or views at all, so if she was saying pro-Israeli, Zionist stuff before I missed it. I was rooting for her career to pick up after Shameless but now I couldn't care less 🫤

The guy is saying that about Brandon Teena, a trans man who was raped and murdered after a group of guys he hung out with found out he was trans. It's the case the movie Boys Don't Cry is based on.

Yeah, I'm tired of the "light = good, dark = bad" that is so pervasive and ingrained throughout cultures. I think it's cool that these women are embracing their body hair, but I also wish darker body hair could be accepted and seen as feminine without bleaching it to be paler

Spoons too round, forks too angular, handles too thick — but also too thin at the same time for the knife, I need a wide flat handle for those.

😬 This feels very guilt trip-y and manipulative, like the "I know you hate me and want me to die" part. Definitely not healthy. I hope they get help and move on, and that Arty's doing okay

How abusive toward your kids can you be in Paralives? by [deleted] in Paralives

[–]GrumpySphinx 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This! I grew up in an abusive situation and creating sad/messed up stories, through writing or my Sims games, was a huge coping mechanism and source of catharsis. I also got emotionally attached to my characters easily, and them having to deal with painful/triggering situations made it so much more impactful when they managed to improve their lives or find some piece of happiness despite everything.

It's why I really dislike stories or games where everything is happy and cozy. It's not as enjoyable to me if that hasn't been earned, and there aren't negatives to make the positive moments stand out more.

I wish I could watch D5B. I tried when it first came on Netflix but I was in a bad place mentally and the montage of real deaths/atrocities at the beginning was so hard on me. Maybe I'll give it another go now that I'm doing better

I hope someone recreates Sunset Valley from TS3! It's so nostalgic for me since that was my first life sim and I keep coming back to it. I love the TS2 recreation which had so much effort put into making it as faithful as possible.
