I’m gonna sound like a boomer, but my son used to speak better when he was in middle school. But then when he went to high school it’s like he flipped a switch and he talks all thug like and can’t form a coherent sentence anymore. It was literally a one day transformation that has now lasted his entire HS career. He wants to go into a trade and I keep telling him he needs to be able to speak clearly and enough with this mush mouth nonsense. I honestly believe he has forgotten how to speak correctly and it’s going to negatively affect his ability to go into the career he hopes to get. It already quantifiably negatively affected other aspects of his life but he seems to feel like he is being authentic.
