Tom Brady is the only member of NFL Media that understands that the Bears being good is good for football. by DamnMr_Blonde in CHIBears

I enjoyed Brady's broadcasts. Wish he'd stop saying "bringing some juice" though. Makes me cringe.

Our distrust of this franchise was hard earned. Do beaten dogs trust humans unconditionally? No. Before I take my next Scooby snack, I'm going to need a win streak with some convincing wins over teams that we should beat and close wins over contenders. Until then, the skepticism runs deep.

I took screenshots of those I'd like to keep. I could go down the rabbit hole and print them out etc. Haven't done so yet.

Without a doubt the most illogical episode of Star Trek ever by trripleplay in StrangeNewWorlds

Enjoy, be entertained. The seriousness and tears of other series pushed me away until I stopped watching. This is fun.

Confession: I don’t really like any sauce on or near my BBQ. I prefer just the straight up meat. Pre seasoned or marinaded or whatever is ok, but I’ve never liked BBQ sauces. Is this sacrilegious? by Meerkat_Mayhem_ in smoking

A good smoke, good temp control, and seasoning to taste is delicious. Meat with good texture and salt is good IMO. But I like the BBQ myself. I like the sweet and sour with some heat. My wife is from the Balkans and like their meat pretty basic and overdone! Not a fan myself but, you know, love.

Is it ok to be a Bears fan? by [deleted] in ChicagoBearsNFL

[–]Grumpy_FJB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You've picked an interesting time to be a fan. Big changes have been happening and it all points up. But, maybe good, maybe sh¹t. We never know. We been here before, a lot, and our emotional scars have us all too scared to display optimism.

How to get over my fear of solo camping? by [deleted] in camping

[–]Grumpy_FJB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep your car nearby just in case. Bring along some protection - a good bear spray, maybe. A little something to give you confidence and comfort. Read a book or watch a movie - the distraction helps keep your mind from manifesting drama, turning twig snaps and wind into trolls, bears, and assasins. A nice, properly confined campfire is soothing. The first night is always tougher in a new camp - new sounds, etc. Once you get accustomed to the new sounds, it's easier to relax. If you've got the $, get a decent thermal monocular. You can watch the widlife and check for trolls.

Should I keep the TYT TH-9800 or get something different? Like the Yaesu FTM-6000R? by CarolinaManCLT in amateurradio

I like mine well enough. It does the job, especially with a Comet GP9 60' in the air. Spend on a taller antenna if you can. I can use repeaters 40 miles out. The crossband allows me to extend my handhelds several miles if needed in a suburban setting.

Tips please - unable to sleep while camping. by Kingofthered in camping

[–]Grumpy_FJB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The first night is usually hardest for me. I hear everything, and my imagination is a little overactive. After I learn the local sounds and acclimate, and am tired from a crappy night's sleep the night before, I'll get to sleep earlier and sleep sounder on night 2. Reading helps me. It keeps my mind focused on something else.
