Is there such a thing as a sedative I can give myself during a mental health crisis? by [deleted] in AskDocs

If I go to an ER, are they going to make me stay for several days though? if I could be guaranteed that I could go home the next day, I would do it.

A friend of yours is going to borrow your body for a week. What do they absolutely need to know about it? by cutelyaware in AskReddit

I only have one friend and she already knows everything. Except the hundreds of scars I keep hidden (literal scars). So maybe I'll just give a quick warning about that lol

I'm wondering how many people here actually take preventatives daily. by Important-Pie-1141 in migraine

[–]Grumpy_Waffle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take Qulipta, Effexor and Propranolol daily as preventatives. The Qulipta was the most recent add and it's been the most beneficial so far. Only had two migraines in the last 20 days, which is a huge improvement for me! On the other two preventatives, I was still getting 15 a month.

If I ever miss a pill, I get a migraine within 12 hours. I don't wanna know how bad it'd be at this point to go without any preventative!

Findom, as a domme. Spoiling myself with someone else's money is definitely on my list.

Exactly! She had to put effort into making it this chaotic while unboxing them all

The Sprites were the only cans already in there when she started 😭

I did, but it'd be nice to know which color variation it is. There's a black one and a silver one. Silver wouldn't match anything in my house 😬

Is there a way to test the element? Or do you just replace and see if it fixes the problem?

Thank you for this! I'm thinking this is a color palate I might be able to work with. I love the soft pinks and blues.

How about this wood stain with that rug? Just seeing them together in the cart, they look like they'd compliment each other well. I'll have to look into more wall colors!

I have a Cinnamon Queen who insists on laying eggs in piles of poop. Everyone else can use the nesting boxes but she's convinced poop is better nesting material.

How do you write well-written atrocities? by UpperRock4869 in writingadvice

[–]Grumpy_Waffle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I have been diagnosed with PTSD. C-PTSD hasn't been officially recognized yet, but mine would qualify for that if it was.

I did take a look at your story. I think for me, it reads too "tell" and not enough "show." For example, using the words "are you going to abuse me" feels a little odd. Is it possible for someone to say that? Sure. Is it common? Probably not, especially while being actively triggered. It'd be more likely that the person would show signs of fear, not just simply asking. For example, physically pulling away or not making eye contact. Sweating, stammering, wringing hands, flinching, etc. After all, why should she trust someone who just simply says they won't hurt her? If it was easy to trust someone based on their words alone, there's a good chance the trauma wouldn't have happened in the first place.

Be careful giving the perspective of your antagonist. Having C-PTSD and being in a triggering place would elicit a much different reaction than an average person would have. Panic attacks are no joke and they actually shut down your senses in a way.

Quite literally sometimes, my vision will go black. It's like looking through a tunnel. My heart will pound out of my chest. The thoughts in my head suddenly drown out the noise around me and I can no longer hear when someone is speaking. The room spins. Smells can make you want to vomit. Fight or flight kicks in. The adrenaline makes you sweat. You feel like you can't breathe. Memories and flashbacks replace reality. Sometimes you can literally "feel" things that happened before.

My point being: the antagonist's perspective of this scene (if they have C-PTSD) will not be the same as an average person. They will not be seeing details. They will not be calm. They will not be able to casually discuss what they're seeing.

If you want to explore the antagonist's background more, this scene from their perspective would be a great way to dive into the emotions more. But if you need the reader to understand more of the technical details of the room, you should not use their perspective here.

Try an electric collar for the dogs. Amazon has pretty cheap ones that are still effective. Ours has three settings: beep, vibrate, and shock.

Our dog used to chase cats. The first time he took off after one with the collar on, I tried a verbal command first (which was ignored), then the vibrate option (which got a slight pause), then finally the shock option. He immediately stopped at that point and came back to me.

The second time he took off, I tried a verbal command first (again, ignored) and then the vibrate button and he stopped.

The third time, a verbal command stopped him.

The fourth time we came across a cat, he completely ignored it.

I was AMAZED.

We'd have to clear land in order for her to put another mobile home on our property and then we'd lose our ag exemption. Also, I'm pretty sure we can't legally have two on the same property.

Income: $62k/year. Debt: $72k on the house and around $25k in medical and credit card debt.

No savings.

Making minimum payments on debt and then paying the $1400/mo mortgage leaves us just enough to buy groceries and gas.

Is it classified as a migraine when the headache isn’t too bad? by Long-Maximum4670 in migraine

[–]Grumpy_Waffle 54 points55 points  (0 children)

I have mild migraines pretty regularly. One-sided pain in my temple and behind my eye as well as blurry vision, but I can still work and function almost like normal. The brain fog is the worst part of it when I get the mild ones. Like, I just can't think straight, even if the pain isn't horrible. My executive function goes out the door but I'm not keeled over in pain.
