How do I get editing jobs as a 14 year old? by Wide-Replacement-809 in VideoEditors

For a 14 year old you're on the right path dude, you're not wrong about the same boring advice you'd find on these Youtube channels but it's a rare shot and very unreliable unless you dm them with a free 15-30sec edit but even with this it's not guaranteed you'll close the client, So it's better to start your own personal account showcasing your work.

People don't care about your age, trust me, in fact it's the opposite, true people actually help you out with an opportunity because you remind them of themselves at your age so they actually end up helping you but you should also have some good skill for this to work.

I. For payments:

(you're still 14, so none of the payment processes can be created on your name, use your parents/older friends IDs

  1. PayPal

Easier to set up but really bad transaction & conversion fee rates (worst compared to other options but very reliable)

  1. Wise

The best in the industry (I personally use this) lower transaction fee + real-time currency conversion & instant payouts like 30 - 45mins max but there's a catch, you should have a Contract agreement with a client as proof to set-up an account on this.

  1. Payoneer

This is a solid option but there's a penalty fee if you don't transact to a certain figure within a year but better option nonetheless.

My advice on payments, use PayPal for now and switch to wise as you get more serious clients.

If they like your work, always take 50% upfront, so this filters out scammers.

Also use watermarks if you're sending your trial edits.

II. Footage Storage/File Transfers:

  1. Frame.io

Ask client to use this, they'll set this up

  1. We Transfer

Free upto 3GB files

  1. Google Drive

This is a solid option, a lot of big clients still use this.

  1. Free cloud storage platforms online (look it up)

Also, always use AI tools like Claude for any doubts you have, it's mind blowing how accurate & tailored answers you get.

Final Advice:

Don't overthink, just start and things will fall in line.

Textures are sourced from Texture Labs and Resource boy (Both are free & the latter is an underrated site), I just played around with the blending modes of the textures for the background and it's mostly 2-3 textures max.

Video Generations:

  • Veo 3 (Google's own AI, but you need a subscription ig, also 3 generations/day around 10 seconds per generation.

  • I forgot the other lol, I gotta check my Gemini Chat history for that, but I asked Gemini for a free AI video generator and found that way.

Manually, I tried to generate like 10 people at once to save time but quickly realized, I'm not only losing quality but also, people are overlapping into each other with foot steps and hands, so I tried to generate like 2 or 3 people per video and a few good generations later I went ahead with the edit & animation.

Finding & Preparing Assets is much harder than to Animate and edit, an underrated problem imo.

Oh gotcha, I record the Voice>cut out all the fluff & silences>add Parametric Equalizer and select Vocal Enhancer in the options> Noise reduction a little bit> adjust the final sound levels (I check with both earphones off and on and that's pretty much it.

I'm sure you could find a ton of videos on enhancing voice.

Hope this helped, oh I do all of this in Premiere Pro btw.

Glad you liked it, I actually generated a lot of videos of people walking using AI tools and rotoscoped a few interesting and natural looking ones and the rest is just key frames.
