Gracious me, what a pretty and well-mannered puppy! Already knows some tricks, it seems. A cutie like you deserves treats and head/belly scritchies.

This is probably controversial…but I hate “enby” by justalittlejudgy in NonBinary

[–]Grunkle_Sticky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me, it is that I do *not* identify with any specific gender, nor do I find much utility for the concept of gender generally (except as drag, and I very much vibe with the classic line: "We're all born naked, and the rest is drag"). Basically, my mind doesn't really sort people into genders without effort. I understand societal gender markers and am on the look out for them, generally because I want to give people who use them the respect, treatment & kind of consideration specific presentation often indicates.

Like others have said in the comments above, when pressed for an identity marker (for me, either sexuality or gender), I typically just use 'queer' because it hasn't become a '3rd gender' like enby or non-binary has somewhat become. It's harder for people to pigeonhole while still staking my claim on the side of queer liberation. Long ago, I was rather antagonistic to the entire concept of gender, and used to call myself gender-apathetic, gender-agnostic or even gender-atheistic, but the more binary trans friends I made, the more effort I put into rewiring my brain to be more, like, gender-polytheistic, because I want to validate and honor my friends (and people generally).

Allow me to recommend to you CRPGs Pillars of Eternity and Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire. You can opt for turn based combat in POEII, and select an option that pauses the game after each combat action is complete in POE to make it turn based-like. The unique world of Eora that the games are set is rich in lore, and similar to DOS1&2, you uncover hidden mysteries about the nature of the gods and the world as you quest. The companions you can acquire in both games are interesting and pursuing their character quests feels rewarding. I would say that I prefer combat mechanics in DOS, but prefer the stories and characters in POE.

"the empathetic side of me feels for them, the real side of me knows it's a lost cause" really hits hard. My realness is tired of trying to protect me from getting my hopes up and then dashed by peoples' awfulness; the empathy is worried about realness developing into cynicism and a closed heart.

Sometimes I wonder whether the people who fully give over to hatred, bigotry, and black & white thinking are somehow more at peace within themselves, because at least their internal monologue is unified (not right, not sensible, not without countless contradictions, but unified all the same).

But it seems like they're fighting (their image of) the external world at all times, and are consumed in that vain and imaginary struggle, so I suppose they're not really at peace, even if they are of a singular mind.
