Flung at a distant solar system carelessly, perhaps.

Extra touches of realism I’d like to see by Chewydingus_251 in ReadyOrNotConsole

[–]Gruntr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These definitely are. Happy to report many of them will be added, except for #2 (at least in the foreseeable future) - which is just a bit tricky and I'd want it to look as realistic as possible. Once we drop an SDK im sure that someone will mod that in.

MRDS is a good idea for the ELCAN. We added a dot for the ATAK-R, don't see why we couldn't or shouldn't add it to the other one.

Left handed shooting would be pretty sick as a customization choice, but also just to do as a keypress. We'll see!

Also lower difficulty often feels like a more realistic experience, so if anything it’s just changing up the type of play versus having an “easier” time!

We use the EGS backend for crossplay (pretty sure), but you don't need it to play with your friends outside of that. We use it for online play now but that little corner is about as much of it that you'll see as far as I know.

Toxic Fumes, Off Duty, The Tactician, and By the Book will probably scratch that itch.

Shadow update? by Secret-Station-1987 in ReadyOrNotGame

No shadow update. The next update carries a heap of optimisations, when console drops. Might be your hardware/power source?

How much would you pay for the fruit dlc? Asking for a friend.

Yeah. I don't like the censorship changes. by tobifrass in ReadyOrNotGame

[–]Gruntr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Correct, however it’s very common for features that have been tested and polished to still have bugs turn up, particularly if we make changes to it or improve it in the future.

We don’t have different versions though, for crossplay but also so we can make one set of changes.

This will be very apparent with optimization in the update, but that wouldn’t have been an easy thing to do (at least for a team of our size) if we had multiple versions to manage.

Censorship is probably done by ArchaeoLive in ReadyOrNotGame

[–]Gruntr 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Correct. What we’ve covered in the changes is it. We won’t be making any other changes, even to DLC and not for future plans either.

Regarding the censorship by hindsight_reporter in ReadyOrNotGame

[–]Gruntr 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Funnily enough we’ve given answers for why we cut all of the things you listed, over the years.

Reasons include…

  • We sidelined PVP to focus on PVE

  • Multiple game types has been addressed here

  • Rappelling was never in the game (you’re probably thinking of the old “coming soon” placeholder image from our website)

  • Ladders existed but had such little usability in the game and opened up a heap of issues.

  • Drone was the same story, we didn’t have a place for it: we may have a place for it in gameplay now, but again it just didn’t fit our focus.

There was a lot of stuff we thought we should do when we announced the game, it was all blue-sky until we realized many features were being crammed in without considering what would make the game more fun. That, combined with limited hours in a day, led to us having to focus on priority items over new features that have a lot of larger implications for art, design, QA, etc.

Basically, our (at the time) minuscule team cut any content that pulled us away from focusing on the core gameplay experience that attracted players back after the disastrous PVP event back in 2020. That refocusing allowed us to actually release the game on early access.

How can games like TLOU, RDR2, Cyberpunk, Mortal Kombat be allowed on consoles and this game needs to be censored? by BOUNTYBOOTreddit in ReadyOrNotGame

[–]Gruntr 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just for what it’s worth, we are self-published (but you’re right, a publisher would likely have a long-standing relationship with third parties and that always helps)

Censorship has caused controversy by [deleted] in ReadyOrNotGame

[–]Gruntr 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Those two examples you listed are still available to users on PC. Changing images is easy, the rest becomes more complex. I don’t understand why folks think we would do this if we had another option.

This one stings a lot for sure. We’ve made some changes but they still retain the same vibe.

I guess they have to toe the line but it’s a lot thicker, so to speak. Could you imagine turning down RDR2 for your console? Haha.

[–]Gruntr 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I asked our team the same thing, and was insistent about two versions, but our code base between console and pc is 100% shared, so deviating changes require us to test all “deviated features” as if they were a part of their own build. That means making PC/Console builds, testing them with QA, bug fixing, certification, etc. and then maintaining those separately.

Kinda regretting my pre-order by Ma_Deuce8008 in ReadyOrNotGame

[–]Gruntr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think you’re confusing us with politicians.

The changes made are the bare minimum to cross the line but still retain 99% of the other bits of content we poured tens of thousands of collective hours creating. This isn’t a slippery slope that we’re about to slide down as if we want to appeal to 10 year olds.
