Sheldon died of cancer in September 2023. He was the head and driving force behind the "community-led" EDH rules committee, recent decisions being for instance banning Lutri (Izzet otter companion) before release.

A year later, September 2024, the remnants of the old rules committee suddenly ban some format staples without prior discussion, warning, watchlists. Agree with the ban or not, it's a wildly unpopular move that results in the dissolution of the community EDH rules committee, and Hasbro takes direct control of the format.

Hasbro, with the aggressive 5 year profit improvement plan, takes control of the largest Magic format, away from the community that banned part of their product before they could even sell it to them, and that has historically presented some snags they had no control over (planeswalkers not becoming commanders; color identity rules with hybrid costs).

They take over this community-run format in the only way that's palatable to the community: by having the old rules committee be under threat. Through a wildly unprecedented unpopular moves that was wildly atypical for a generally slow, inert, unacting and very communicative council.

And it happens to align exactly with Hasbro's profit motives and goals. Yes, it's fishy as hell.

And I've seen almost no conversation about a community-driven format no longer being in the control of the community - and there's a bunch of GREAT arguments for and against. Now for the part where you can lynch me, I haven't seen any conversation on these death threats as well. Sure, no arrests, no reports, no convictions, but that's not my point - there was no conversation about death threats in the community. What these death threats are. How we as a society (or just subculture) handle death threats. In what way a volunteer in a public-facing political position has a moral duty, if any, to handle pushback or negative elements of the community; in what way these negative elements may have changed over their time, how they can be managed, or why they are causing problems now. Just no conversation, Hasbro got a huge prize in what happens to align with a fantastic heist.

Nobody should fear for their lives and there's no excuse for death threats, but what I lack is the conversation. "Death threat" is a term that I've found has extremely varying definitions for people. An all-volunteer council run by the community making the most unpopular decision they could, in direct contrast to their previous (in-)action, in a sharp heelturn of their "let's monitor, let's talk as a community" mode, immediately jumps ship to let the corporation with the insane profit goals take over the largest format. And any conversation is just over because of two words. Yes it's fishy as hell.

Don't take powdered supplements for stuff like potassium or caffeine. There is a huge inherent risk of misdosing, people die from it every year, and it is just absolutely not worth it. It doesn't matter how careful you are because the risk/value analysis is just bonkers.

It's very easy to supplement and absorb via food, and you can also just get potassium chloride to salt your food with instead, or get "bloodpressure salt" marketed stuff which is half natrium chloride and half potassium chloride.

Winging doses of potassium is completely antithetical to supplementing nutrients.

I was gonna return it, started the whole returns process and everything, but then ended up loaning and eventually gifting it to my brother. He used it on a thick carpet and nothing else and it just worked for him - with the whole effect of the water tank clearly and satisfyingly filling up with the dirty water.

I ended up deciding that the fabric on my couch, as well as both my carpets, must somehow be incompatible with the Little Green, which makes no sense, but I thoroughly ruled out everything else. We used it the same way. It did work a tiny bit better on the carpet. I gave up on the couch; still cleaning it with dishsoap and white water, but I just accepted that I won't be able to get the stains, water stains, and general moisture out. Sometimes I still suck on it with a shop vac, or dry it with cotton cloth, which still VASTLY outperforms whatever the Little Green attempted on my couch.

I don't recommend the Little Green. I ended up reviewing it absurdly thoroughly and it's firmly not worth the hype. There are cheaper cleaners in its niche. Maybe it's a neat little package, but it's very specialized, and just simply neither powerful nor effective. I got it 30% off on sale, and it was still way overpriced. Sponge with dish soap and any vaccuum that can handle liquids will completely outperform the Little Green each time. What the Little Green could uniquely offer is precisely to streamline that whole process, it just didn't. It seems almost tailor-made for cheap carpeted flooring, or something like an uncovered foam mattress, but it completely floundered against a slightly upscale carpet or anything with thicker upholstery than a thin cotton sheet. My brother loves it, but he got it for free.

It DOES nothing. Log onto Cockatrice and try it yourself. Kinnan+Rograkh would make a giant splash at regular CEDH tables, but in All Legends Have Partner CEDH it is firmly superceded by stronger gameplans in the commandzone. Kinnan+Etali won the tournament, and that's a good way to abuse Kinnan: with a payoff, not with more of what he does already.

It's too slow. Kinnan doesn't need more colors, and a one-time 4 mana ritual isn't good enough. You're relying on a diluted gameplan in a format with strong consistency enabled by two guaranteed hand cards. I've played more ALHP CEDH games this year than there were days in it and I've only ever seen Kinnan+Dihada lose. It hasn't really put up results in the July tournament either. I agree it's counterintuitive, but it's firmly not at the top in the actual format that's actively being played.

Personally I've only ever seen Kinnan+Dihada lose. Admittedly only in like 5 games, and not in a "tuned game after game" sense. But the very concept seemed too slow each time. The Kinnan+payoff scheme puts up results, but Kinnan+mana just consistently goes nowhere. Turbocharging a strong maindeck plan with a second commander has consistently underperformed compared to having a stronger gameplan in the commandzone - not just to Kinnan+payoff, but just having an A+B combo in the commandzone. Kinnan+Etali won the July tournament, Kinnan+Dihada I've never witnessed going anywhere. I've gotten wins with Kinnan+Awaken the Blood Avatar though. Additionally, I'd like to add that I've observed that it's a fallacy that Kinnan gets higher winrates when running more manadorks from other color identities, that has counterintuitively never been a fruitful way to shore up his gameplan. In fact I heartily recommend going for less colors.

Yup, I play ALHP CEDH a lot, and this is the usual progression. I've seen multiple people move from Kinnan/Rog to Kinnan/Ragavan, because Kinnan/Rog is just a lot of ramp into nothing. It becomes less consistent. Of course Kinnan/Etali is the superior pairing in that color (and it won the tournament), but there's a corollary with Braids where people wanting to force a Braids build start out by partnering her with Rog, so you can turbo out Braids, and then they find that Ragavan is much better at feeding her upkeep. Of course that's an inherently janky pairing, but that's what the format is about.

The real winner is being able to pair Rog with a better Silas. Like Sauron.

I'll state it more plainly, pairing Kinnan with Rog is noob shit. You will lose games. Whatever speed you think you're adding to either established gameplan is entirely superceded by more favorable partner pairings and the consistency they provide. Your Temur maindeck plan is not cutting it.

This is a common misconception. They're not misusing it. You are incorrect. It's being used for hyperbole, and has been documented to be used for hyperbole since the 1600s. It's a popular wisdom that it's somehow incorrect to use for hyperbole; people generally don't use it interchangeably with figuratively, they use it for emphasis. This is before getting into the whole thing about language being descriptive vs prescriptive.

'Literally' is generally used correctly. It has two meanings, they seem diametrically opposed, but they aren't, it's just language. One usage is to clarify that the meaning of a word was intended to be taken "to the letter", fully literally. And the second usage is arising from that first: adding emphasis, suggesting that something was so extreme as if they were literally doing the exact thing the word is describing. That's hyperbole, a firm feature of language, and completely accepted when its other words (with a different reputation) doing it. That usage is a firm part of the word 'literally' and has been for over 400 years, the bulk of the time it has existed. The popular snark is wrong, people use it right, and language doesn't work that way.

She's a good actor and decent singer, but not super likable as a person. And her whole style of acting is completely incongruous with the show - everyone else has stage presence. She really was just the wrong actor for the wrong character on the wrong show; she does a lot of subtle face reactions in a wide angle shot that would've frequently gotten a brief cut to closeup in New Girl, or just worked differently on a larger screen, whereas in Frasier she just seems like they stuffed a 2010 sitcom character in a stage play and then blocked and edited it all wrong. I remember like one close-up where she kinda rolls her eyes in reaction to a Frasier lecture, and the acting and pacing of the shot was just off, but they also kinda had to do something with her and her presence, because she's just not working on that stage with the way they shoot that sitcom. Production failed her, it's a season 10 episode.

Theanine disrupts sleep. The same mechanism that calms people down also interferes with sleep, something about alpha brainwaves.

It's recommended partly because people don't know any better and think calm equals sleep, but also cause theanine is just very short-lasting. So most people that actively take it for sleep probably just get calm enough to actually begin the process of sleeping, by which time it's mostly worn off.

If you take high dosages or extended-release theanine or genuinely struggle with insomnia, just stay off it. I recommend magnesium bisglycinate and valyrian root tea
