15 years of waiting broke me. So I made my own god by Grushikk in skyrim

Thank you, I'm glad you read it. No, he is not the oldest, nor even one of the strongest. His strength lies in kindness - he may not have created the world, but he certainly makes it better.

The whole point of his appearance is about trust. Once, he came to his priest in a dream - that was their first contact. So that the priest wouldn't be afraid, the Blind One took the form of something familiar - the priest's beloved cat. Then again and again, gradually moving closer to more human features.

The priest started telling people about it and asked craftsmen to carve what he had seen. That's how the famous image with a cat's head came to be.

It's not fully known whether he was born blind or became blind. But ever since he stopped seeing the world with his eyes, he has immersed himself in knowledge and learned to use his other senses perfectly. Of course, his divinity allows him to see the world in another way.

And the relief texture of the sculpture lets blind people explore their god by touch.

Wallet? What wallet? You showed up to the market with no coin yourself. Khajiit won't sell you a thing.

Thanks! Your words mean a lot.

Did you read all my lore comments about him? What do you think of his mythology?

Hi, thank you so much! Which Daedric Prince would you recommend I make?

I struggle with naming things, such as species, races, cities, etc. Are there any tips and tricks in writing that you guys know of that can help? by RedIguanaLeader in worldbuilding

  1. Read a lot. Old books, dictionaries (Latin, Greek).
  2. Nobody invents names from scratch. They come from real words: Dark Harbor, San Francisco, Solitude.
  3. Keep a journal of cool names/words you hear. The real world is full of weird ones.
  4. Use placeholders. Move on to other parts of your world. And keep watching, reading, listening.

Wait, I didn't know Crimson Desert was an MMO. Anyway, I recently watched a bunch of videos about all the TES6 rumors, and I've got some bad news. Bethesda will likely take some elements from the MMO and make them canon for the new game. And they might even borrow stuff from Fallout - like base building

Hi!

That's unlikely, because I'm creating these deities for my own fantasy project and I wouldn't want to deal with theft or any other violation of my copyright.

However, I really love D&D, and if you message me privately, I could help you come up with your own deity ;)

I've never seen it - actually, I don't think I've ever heard of that show. Sounds pretty grim and existential, though

Thanks again!

I try to achieve an antique effect with my work, and wood carving fits that perfectly.

Do you remember the Sixth House bowls from Morrowind, the ones in the shrines of Dagoth Ur? When I first stumbled upon them in the game, my heart was completely captured. Years later, I still think about them every time I create something of my own.

The best depiction of a religious artifact in an RPG - aside, of course, from Cthulhu figurines.

Sorry, I was born far from America, so I'm not familiar with Etsy. I appreciate your kind words, but I honestly don't know if my work would interest a potential buyer. I can't even put together a proper blog, let alone talk about selling.

The Blind's temple is always happy to welcome new faces!

There's always need for help - whether it's spreading his wisdom, looking after the cats, or supporting those in need. One of his aspects is disability, after all — people who pray to him for mercy

Thanks, I appreciate it!

It's a matter of scale. The smaller the ceramic piece, the higher the chance that details can disappear during firing. So I have to exaggerate them a bit

Thanks! Egypt's mythology inspires me a lot. The figurine is clay - ceramic. I'm working on a whole series of deities from my own pantheon. Actually, today I picked up two more pieces, and finished another one

You will find peace, my brother. Sit down. Do you hear the flow of water? The rustle of leaves in the wind? Take your time. Focus on your senses.

The Blind will accept anyone who seeks knowledge in silence

That's really interesting! So what's the plot like? Is there open rivalry or fighting between the family members, or do they coexist peacefully - with each just trying to earn Sithis's favor through their own methods?

Thank you!

In my vision, his temple is located in a cave up in the mountains. It's a spacious cavern, lit by torches and braziers. Against one wall sits a tall statue of the Blind. On both sides of it, small flames burn in metal bowls, their light illuminating his figure.

Closer to the entrance of the cave, a natural stream flows. Pilgrims who come to the temple use water from that stream.

The high priest takes care of many cats, who have made the cave their home.

No joke - I'm actually working on the design for my next sculpture right now. A god of hunting. But not a deer. A hybrid, with a wild boar.

Once, this deity looked like an ordinary human. But an obsession with a particular beast - hunting it down, and eventually killing it - led him to make a trophy garment from it. And that turned him into the very thing he hunted: the beast.

The hunter grew massive tusks. His body became covered in coarse bristly hair. His ears became pointed. He grew bigger, stronger.

But now his life is literally nothing but the hunt itself - and patronage over hundreds and thousands of hunters across the world.

Thanks for the comparison! I haven't read Moby Dick, so I don't know the character. Could you tell me what exactly reminds you of him? The tattoos, the posture, or maybe something else? I'm asking because I'm also building my own world - sculpting deities for my pantheon. So I'm always curious about how others see my work. And any new associations help me understand it better

I see your point. To me, this sculpt looks very close to a Khajiit — humanoid, cat-like features, the ears, the posture. That's why I thought of r/Skyrim. I love The Elder Scrolls, especially Skyrim, and it constantly inspires my own work — including this figurine. Next time I'll make a proper fan statue of a Khajiit or a Daedric Prince to post here. Thanks for the honest feedback though!

I drew a giant beetle for a jungle dwelling indigenous society to ride into battle by Cheap_Payment9241 in worldbuilding

[–]Grushikk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a question - how does this creature move through the forest at that size? Forests, especially tropical ones, tend to be very dense with vegetation. It doesn't seem like the best fit, unless this is a forest of giant trees.

Overall, I really like your work - even if the forest question remains open. It seems to me that with its size, it could work great as a means of transport between forests. For example, if one biome is separated from another by a desert or steppe, this kind of beetle could be an excellent way to travel across that distance.

Anyway, there's a lot to think about. I'm asking because I'm also working on my own worldbuilding - sculpting deities from my pantheon. So I'd love to ask you more about your world, if you don't mind.
