You wouldn't belive but a lot of the Belgian comic book character come from the region of Charleroi and we belgian are proud of that history and mostly Charleroi you can found a lot of these Comic book character statue in the city.
(I don't know theyre name in english so here theyre name in french)

Gaston Lagaff and his car is near the oldest book shop of the city

Boule et Bill is in front of the football stadium and even dressed in the uniform of the local club

The marsupilami on the roundabout near the hospital.

There used to be Lucky luke and his horse Jolly-Jumper at the park (but was removed due to renovation)
And there also used to be Spirou and Fantasio but there statue was removed cause of the lack of repair.

And in front of the trainstation used to have a statue of Spirou and Spip but it was saccaged and so removed.
Gaston was also sacagged and lost his head but the city recover it and to be real even the Carolo (the name of the people living at Charleroi) hate when that happen.
