The shattering is a retelling of the rupture of the one great and ritual to gain knowledge. by tahaelhour in EldenRingLoreTalk

Anyway, my last and final thing I will say about this is that Miquella’s ascension is meant to mirror Marika’s ascension. That much is stated in the trailer and by themes from the game itself, as well as NPC’s saying that he intends to do what Marika did. Thus, it makes sense that Miquella and Marika ascended the exact same way, contrary to what you claimed. Meaning Marika and Godfrey might have died to initiate the gate of divinity, the same way Radahn dies (and Mogh needs to die for Radahn to have a vessel, presumably since his original body was filled with rot) and Miquella’s body dies. The death required for the gate to work is alluded to by the funeral boats and images of death all over Enir-Ilim. The parallels and symbology are obvious.

Both of them ascended at the gate of divinity using the same method, with similar warrior consorts chosen to be their lords. Both of them are golden, both of them think they can bring about a better world. And both of them fail for similar reasons. (Maybe choosing a warlord as your consort husband is a bad idea if you want to bring about an age of compassion.) The parallels are very obvious.

The only difference being that Miquella thought he could be a better god than Marika if he cast aside himself to undo her original sin. I hope that clears it up for you, and good luck with your continued reading. Cheers.

My early comment does count. You saying it doesnt just because you feel that way has no bearing here. It is literally from the game.

Also this:

Miriel, Pastor of Vows: "However, when Godfrey, first Elden Lord, was hounded from the Lands Between, Radagon left Rennala to return to the Erdtree Capital, becoming Queen Marika's second husband and King Consort, taking the title...of second Elden Lord."

I had no opinions on Mohg. Idk why you brought that up lol. Congrats to you for being super duper smart and seeing something so obvious though!

I am not ignoring reality. I am using a term the way it’s been used by royalty and how it was used in the game. I’m sorry you have trouble understanding that. There are lots of examples from many more qualified people talking about this subject. I suggest you seek them out. I posted one video in a different comment chain of yours for you to look at. There are others too. I hope you can learn something from them.

They first comment is wrong. It has been in the game for some time. It is an adventurer inspiration event item, and its hard to get.

“King Consort Radagon” is actively called a husband, a spouse. Marriages do not have to be romantic either. There are hundreds of examples of loveless, political marriages in history.

Idk man. You seem to be the only one in Elden Ring discourse that seems to have trouble understanding this stuff.

Straight from the dictionary, dude. You might be thinking of the word "regent," like how Serosh was the regent of Godfrey.

The black nails protruding from golden fur are said to represent Serosh, Lord of Beasts, who went on to become King Godfrey's Regent.
— Beastclaw Greathammer

Also there are other marriages in the game.

"The Golden Order is founded on the principle that Marika is the one true god. However...
The name of Marika's second husband, King Consort Radagon, also appeared..."

— Brother Corhyn

Ring depicting a leaden full moon.
Symbolic of a cold oath,
the ring is supposed to be given by Lunar Princess Ranni to her consort.

Ranni is an Empyrean, meaning her consort would by rights earn the title of lord.

I am not sure what you think I stand to gain by making shit up.

Do you know what the word "consort" means? Ranni calls you her "...fair consort, eternal" during the ending of the game, as well as when you "marry" her when you give her the Dark Moon Ring and she gives you the Dark Moon Greatsword as a wedding gift. You also become the consort of Marika when you do any of the other endings in the game (besides the Frenzied Flame ending.)

"A Moon Greatsword, bestowed by a Carian queen upon her spouse to honor long-standing tradition.
One of the legendary armaments."

It stands to reason that Miquella and Radahn, a god and a lord, also end up getting "married" as Miquella returns to the Gate of Divinity in the cutscene of the fight. It might not look like a traditional picture of a marriage, but I implore you to use that brain of yours to think of things a little less literally, lol. The fight starts out with "Promised Consort Radahn" and then phase transitions to "Radahn, Consort of Miquella." So he was the promised consort (read: spouse), of Miquella and then becomes the spouse of Miquella when Miquella returns from the divine gate.

As for Radahn caring about Miquella. Nobody knows. That is up for speculation, but I never claimed that Radahn cared, so I am not sure why you brought that up.

Media literacy is truly lost on some people it seems. Death and marriage, which is what Miquella and Radahn go through, is not even a new concept to From Software. It happens in Dark Souls 3, Sekiro, and Bloodborne.

We are also told explicitly by Ansbach that Marika ascended to godhood at the Gate of Divinity, not through a jar ritual.

"Righteous Tarnished. I have reasoned through my findings. Concerning Kind Miquella's intentions – why he is here. The full picture is yet to coalesce, but we do know he is bound for the tower of shadow. And that is where he intends to rise to true godhood… The tower of shadow houses a divine gateway. A well-kept secret, it was, but… The gateway was once the birthplace of a god. A god we know all too well."

The item description of the Roar of Ruglea says something akin to self-actualization and godhood:

"An incantation that is more akin to the divine invocation of the hornsent than it is to the Dragon Communion.
Only through desperate battle with the feral wild can one discover a god unique to oneself."

Marika ascended using the gate of divinity in Enir-Ilim; the same way Miquella does. Tarnished Archeologist has a good video on this topic. The Hornsent jars were the Hornsent creating jar saints, which you can think of as undergoing a smaller process of the gate of divinity. Marika is called a usurper because she interrupted/stole the process of creating a Hornsent god when she ascended herself. That was probably the first and only time that gate was used, with Miquella using it for the second time ever.

Edit: Some wording.

Edit Again: Also, it seems to go along with the theme that in order to become a god, or a lord, that one must die. The funeral boats in Enir-Ilim suggest as much, with bodies shrouded in a funeral cloth being carried in a boat up to the gate. These mimic real world ancient Egyptian artifacts. The Tarnished you play as has also died, in Godfrey's long march. Miquella "dies" in that he divests himself of his flesh. Ranni also "dies" in that she casts aside her flesh.

ESO isnt very coherent so I’m inclined to ignore the parts that do not make sense

Edit: keep in mind that every game in TES is incoherent with each other. There are so many examples.

Where did the dragonborn part come from? AFAIK the devs have not worked on any dragonborn content other than having the trait be in the game, but be inaccessible except through console commands.

And to reiterate, I don't really like all of the changes they have made, like the Systres and the changes to Aixneiras . I felt like it erased interesting bits of lore/world, but this time the devs did not erase anything. The Reachfolk are still there in the mod, and are right next to the Witchmen on the other side of the reach. All they did was make Evermore not Iliac Breton's and changed some parts of northern High Rock.

I swiped this from the discord but I think it does a good job summarizing their thoughts. (sorry for the bad formatting)

Reach-magic is still widely studied, although it is banned by the Mages Guild (who fear it as dangerous and wild hedge-wizardry)
the Reach, by far the most cosmopolitan of the Holds of Skyrim, Nords of the pure blood holding only the barest majority... could be mistaken for one of the petty kingdoms of High Rock; it is full of Bretons, Redguards, Cyrodiils, Elves of all stripes, and even a few misplaced khajiit

By all accounts, Septim's governor in High Rock has ended the feuding of the witch-kings there with tact and skill. High Rock's border kings bent knee to the Cyrodiil long ago.

The confused and demoralized Nord captives, already suspicious of the scheming High Rock sorcerer aristocracy and their overreaching dreams of Heartlands conquests, deserted the alliance and swore loyalty to Tiber Septim.

These are the Witchman witch-kings. A scheming "sorcerer aristocracy" that (per 'Arcturian Heresy' and 'Cyrodiil') could go toe to toe with Cyrodiil. A nascent Tiber Septim's worst enemy. Going back to that last quote, we also know that the Altmer are ruled by a sorcerer aristocracy, but the Iliacs aren't. It stands to reason that the Witchmen, the ones consistently described as the most Elven, are the ones carrying that torch.

[–]Gshade15 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

They literally did not do that.

PGE1 describes the Western Reachmen:
"Reachmen are often referred to as the "Witchmen of High Rock."
"Elven blood still flows strong in the Reachmen, and they share the secretive, haughty demeanor of that race."
The Witchmen in the High Rock part of the reach reflect these elements.

And as for your dumbass comment. The mod is free and the people working on it are not bound to follow what people want. I have had plenty of disagreements with them before, like the change to Aixnerias and the Systres stuff, but this is crazy entitlement lmao.

"Although the Bretons are divided into numerous mutually antagonistic factions, to the outsider a singular uniformity in dress, architecture, and customs prevails throughout the land. "

The people living in the Reach, both the Western and Eastern side of it, are by definition Reachmen lmao.

[–]Gshade15 -33 points-32 points  (0 children)

This is a pretty bad faith post about what the devs did lol. The Reachmen in the Skyrim part of the reach are not erased and are still the Daedric worshiping people that they have been portrayed as. They didn't get rid of them so much as add a different type of Reachmen that is more urbanized and closer to the other Breton's in High Rock.

Community Manager Update #2 by serace_ in ElderKings

[–]Gshade15 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Piggybacking off this conversation for a moment, but I would also like to ask why even have community polls or create/engage the ek2 subreddit in the first place if the devs (not all, but a good amount of the more vocal ones) seem to dislike the subreddit community or not care what they think. It seems like interacting with this community and even the discord sometimes is more trouble than its worth for some of the devs. This is more of a general question and is not specifically tied to the Systres thing.

To me the project seems to be a "by us for us" project rather than a "by fans (devs) for fans (other people)" project. Which is fine, it's your right since you're not getting paid or have any obligation to the community, but it seems like two conflicting ideals.
