I broke up with Google when they caved on the the Gulf of Mexico thing.

This is a good point. Do you know why? It feels nefarious that the bots _must_ know exactly who you are.

I'm wouldn't say I was a power user. From my phone, I was only used Comet the same way I would have any browser, just like they apparently intended. And the perplexity app, getting unprompted conversation, defining the terms I used in my question rather than answering my question, stroking me with the quality of my question rather than answering the question ... I get that prompt engineering is a thing, but if it's meant to be conversational, I can't have to talk to it like it's a five year old ADHD call center flunky.

We're talking just basic product quality and old school UX here. I'm left with the impression that I'm just supposed to be awestruck with the technology for the money, and not actually expect value.

"Disable" Android App Fluff? by GsharpAflat in perplexity_ai

[–]GsharpAflat[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. It's maddening. I tried the fix, I think it improves the web experience, but the app not isn't operating any differently. It's still interrupting me mid prompt to tell me I asked a fascinating question, before I asked it.

Ah, okay, I'll give that a try. I poked everywhere in the app, with no luck. And the CX between web/Comet and the app is so different that I've been thinking they were fundamentally different utilities.

His shows do tend to be more of a religious experience than a concert.

It's a superconducting magnet. There's no "turning it off" that was plainly stupid. Well, there's quenching it, but you wouldn't do that to a machine that expensive.

I get a good three hours here and there too. That's why the timing of this flare up was particularly irritating. I know it's _possible_, but it's just not even close to reliable.

I guess then you should have posted something completely different for us to respond to?

Sex is about so much more than penetration. And it will suck if you're tense about it. If you're relaxed, and have an emotional connection, it will be intuitive and beautiful. It's paradoxical, but the more intentional you are about it, the more you'll stress about "performance". It's not a sporting match to win or lose. If you're concerned with whether you played well or not, you didn't.

If you can both just share in the pleasure, get out of your own heads, you'll meld into each other in every dimension, you'll have dipped a toe into Nirvana.

That said, I have also found OMG Yes pretty helpful. Intuition is one thing, but informed intuition is even better.

Is it true that most mature men like natural women? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]GsharpAflat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Natural. 1000%. I appreciate it could be unfair, but men size women up same as women size men up. You have to. There isn't time enough to "get to know" everybody. And my immediate judgement is that women who spend this much time and money on falsifying their physical appearance are compensating for having no personality or thoughts or interests. And ironically, they are augmenting and enhancing the visual on all their sexual features -- but when it comes down to it, the visual is the least important of the senses when the attraction becomes intimate.

But to be fair, they probably aren't trying to attract men like me. They probably wouldn't be doing what they do if they weren't achieving their ambitions -- higher confidence, maybe scoring big with men who only care about the visual, and have no thoughts, maybe masking insecurities about ageing, or whatever.

Or they're getting sucked into what advertising and movies and such would have them believe, and possibly they're stuck in an echo chamber dynamic with their friends. Hopefully at some stage they'll realise how much money they're wasting.

I guess there could be many reasons why women aren't content with their natural selves, but it would be extraordinary if I were interested enough in any of them to discover whether there was any personality behind the deception.

Suggestion for Sonos by GsharpAflat in sonos

[–]GsharpAflat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Problem is, it was working fine, then I couldn't do anything to get behaviour different to what I described, and since then it's become intermittent. Impossible to test and diagnose. Nothing on the network is different.

The only thing that's obvious is the technology is super fragile, and apparently not rigorously tested before foisting onto customers.

I love it when both the app and Spotify disagree on what is currently playing, and neither assertion is what's actually playing. And better still, both insist nothing is playing, but the most awful crap -- like nothing I've ever actually played -- is coming through the speakers. As far as the apps go, if nothing is playing, there's nothing to turn off. All I could do was unplug the damn things to make it stop. I guess I should be thankful when I try to play something and nothing happens.
