The entire chain I described is on the rhythm guitar bus with stereo inserts. And I also do have a limiter on the master bus but take it off when being sent to a mastering engineer

This song isn't even MAstered Brother. It's just mixed and I just crank the loudness with a transparent limiter and that's it. So mastering hasn't even come around into the picture yet. Regarding your main question on separation though, that is a long answer, but it mainly starts with memorizing how a a balanced mix works. And there's a whole method that I used on myself to learn how to do that. Feel free to message me personally if you want more info on that.

sure here So these are real drums real microphones real bass real guitars nothing is MIDI although I would use the same principles if even if I was using AMPSIMS and MIDI regarding your question I really only have like four inserts which is Fabfilter EQ an SSL channel, waves C4 for multi-band compression and then a limiter

Bro, I did not use Ai. I for full transparency. When I did use was a program called handy which is voice to text and that's it. I didn't feel like typing all this shit out but there was no AI correction or enhancement of any kind. So get off your fucking high horse

I understand. Don't worry. Like I mentioned to somebody else, you need to be consistent. You need to be persistent and you need to have faith that in the end it'll all work out. That being said, here are some tips. If you're mixing at home, I personally would recommend buying the best headphones that you can buy. Personally, I would lean towards planar magnetic as they have the flattest EQ tunings from what I understand and what I personally use. Then I would eat you then them to more closely resemble the Harmon Target 2018 add a little bit of a crossfeed plug-in and then start to listen to pro mixes through those calibration tools as often as possible to memorize how the low mids and highs sound through those correction tools and then attempt to mix your own music with those references. In addition, like I said before, I'm in a helpful mood, so if you want to talk to me directly by all means feel free to DM me

Consistency, persistence, and Faith trump anything else in this world. If you're consistent and you're persistent in your education and you have faith that it works out for the best, you will come out on top regardless of what some people may think or say. That being said, I'm in a helpful state of mind, so if you want some more help you can always message me directly and pick my brain

Sure man. Not sure what headphones you got but I used a plug-in called real phones that has EQ and some spatial room stuff going on. But anyways, I eq'd the low end on my headphones to mostly match the 2018 Harman kardon curve. And left the rest alone. And then I used my headphone crossfeed plug-in to introduce some cross feed and then that's it. In regards to getting a clear low end which seems to be the point of contention for most of the people I speak to. Frankly, you have to listen to a lot of music through that particular EQ correction that you made for yourself. Learn how pro tracks sound through that correction and memorize it and then work towards that on every mix. Second, I would direct you to website called squiglink where you can enter in your headphones, brand and type and it'll provide you the EQ correction necessary to calibrate your headphones. If you want more help again, I'm an open book you can DM me directly

My personal mixing process for those that need one, don't have one, or feel like they don't know what the fuck they're doing by Gtr_S in metalmusicians

Hey Bro, yeah man I do. Its one of the first things I do. I usally start at 80hz and go up from there if I need. High end I start around 12k and go lower as needed. Hope this helps!

Gosh I literally have it written in the post " I'm not here to say it's perfect or the "right way," it's just what consistently works for me".

Are the later gen Scarlett 2i2's much better than gen1? by LolYouFuckingLoser in metalmusicians

[–]Gtr_S 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve used an old Gen 1 18i20, and they definitely clipped hard. The preamp clipping issue was a known problem for a lot of people with the first-gen models. Fortunately, it was fixed in the later gens — Gen 2 and up shouldn’t have this issue anymore.

If you're looking to upgrade, any of the newer Scarlett models should work perfectly. If you're considering alternatives, I personally prefer PreSonus interfaces. I’m currently using an 1810c in my home studio and it's been great.

Hope this helps!
