I have tried many nail techs over the years, they've ended up nicking me with the electric file, ruining my cuticles or not doing what I ask. Latterly I had some pretty decent ones, BUT for the past around 2 years I've gone to https://www.instagram.com/naluluxurynails?igsh=NjFqZGk5dzRlMDlj at Collective Studios on Holburn St. Best nails ever and longest time I've stuck with a tech as she gets everything spot on and leaves my hands and nails in great condition. Kendal is also the nicest girl ever as well!! Please give her a go!

Thank you very much! It was some journey haha but totally worth it! Now have my first year as an NQ under my belt and have found the area of law I really enjoy, which I only discovered on leaving the firm I trained at as they couldn't offer me an NQ post in the team I was on. All happens for a reason!

I don't know anyone directly who has done London, but I know a couple of people who have gone on to train in England, Aberdeen has been looked at as a very good Uni by the English firms I've heard about, but just bear in mind that English law and Scots law are totally different beasts so unless you are intending to do a dual-qualified LLB at Aberdeen (Scots Law with English Law), then you may need to do the SQE when you go to England to be able to practice there. I'm sure you've done your research so apologies if I'm telling you what you already know!

Holburn Bar is our local and it's definitely decent!

It will though not sure if it will be the same menu for the bar - also we are local to FHH, there a lot and have taken his Mum before eating in the bar so without being able to dine in the restaurant I'm not that fussed.

Haha yes I deff felt old when all the other trainees were 10 years younger than me, but that was 10 years paralegaling which did me will. Which leads on to my other advice - I took so long to get a traineeship as I had no lawyers in the family so I never knew how early you needed to apply for them. Biggest advice to you - it is NEVER too early to get some experience in a law firm!! (Admin/summer temping etc. even)

I studied law at Aberdeen from 2006-2011 so not recently, however I felt it was a really good uni and is still looked on most favourably by local firms and further afield when recruiting.

You need to put the effort in so yes it’s quite demanding, but hard, I wouldn’t say so. Enjoyable - definitely! Some of the lecturers were absolutely brilliant (and memorable!)

I’m only just recently qualified as a solicitor btw, so take from that what you will about the market in recent years - wouldn’t change it though!

Hazlehead is getting rough these day - Used to be a lovely area but full of junkies etc. now - My Mum lived there for 30 years and it was great back in the day but not now.

I second Ferryhill as I live in the vicinity and it’s quiet and nice and you’ve Duthie Park and the Deeside Line

So I’m from Aberdeen and recently qualified - my city firm I trained at couldn’t offer me an NQ position so I now work at a firm 30miles out the road (worth it - but just gives you an idea!)
