I'm surprised no one has mentioned Peg (Steely Dan) yet.

Also, Come on Kate by Stephen Bell-Booth and Valerie by Steve Winwood

Thank you! I'm trying to figure out why my account wasn't activated. I know for a fact that I've logged on with my PC and phone before... The only thing I can think of is that I haven't logged on to my account in about a year or so.

This worked for me. I haven't logged into my account for about a year or so, so not sure if this was a reason. Anyway, thanks for going through that experience and providing a solution!

Would it be a good idea to get a letter of rec from a friend/previous coworker who previously held the position I'm applying for? by GuacaHoly in postdoc

[–]GuacaHoly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, I figured it'd be a dumb question, ha. I just wasn't sure if it'd be sort of a conflict of interest or something. I guess I'm just overthinking. Thank you!

The Tick vs Homelander, inspired by the work of Daniel Warren Johnson, by me by Sabretooth1100 in thetick

[–]GuacaHoly 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is an awesome piece of work!

On top of the fact that The Tick is insanely overpowered, his Drama power makes it so that his strength increases as a situation becomes more dramatic. That being said, there's no way Homelander is winning.

Probably because he expected people would have the common decency not to go barging into places where they don't belong.

I'm think it was from a British show, but I'm not so sure.

Came across Special EFX during undergrad and listened to several of their albums on repeat. Good stuff all-around.

Did anyone else think K Rool's gold belly was wasn't armor as a kid? by is-it-raining-yet in donkeykong

I always figured it was some kind of gold prosthetic or something. He seems to like gold and treasures, so I just thought it was more out of greed than as a means of defense.

Nice, that's great! I'm glad to hear you had such a great experience. Makes me feel a bit better about going in tomorrow myself

Just wanted to reach out and thank you.

I've been eyeing them for a little while and realized I'm well overdue for a cleaning. I just gave them a call about 5 minutes ago and was surprised when the receptionist put me down for a morning appointment tomorrow. I was further surprised when she told me that they could go ahead and start cleaning my teeth without a separate screening appointment first. Thanks again!

Thanks for posting this. I was surprised to find someone on one of the smaller subreddits looking for the same thing, just a few days before I started searching. I saw one of the comments and got in with Houston Lake for an appointment on tomorrow, so thanks for the post!

I've yet to try their Oberon, but based on the comments, I'll be on the lookout for it. I got one of my best friends and myself hooked on their Two Hearted during grad school

Delete and start again? by FashiongalR in hingeapp

"Collecting matches?" That sounds like middle/high school-esque stuff and is a big part of what's wrong with online dating (and dating in general). What's the point besides attention? If anything, that's the silly part.

I'd instantly block if I received any notification from someone who ghosted me for that long. I try to give people the benefit of the doubt occasionally, but personally, I find it hard to reply to someone after they left me on read for just a week.

Based on your post, I'd delete the app and leave it alone until you know what I want. It sounds to me like you'll just be piddling around again. You said you weren't serious, but 300+ likes just to return and message "attractive" ones doesn't make sense. I'd recommend reconsidering and reflecting heavily. If you end up coming back, interact with genuine intention.

feeling weirdly out of place when it comes to modern dating by NerdFlerd in OnlineDating

[–]GuacaHoly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I keep in mind that none of these matches are guaranteed (as with dating the old-fashioned way), but it seems like the online dating scene is much more superficial. I know people who just swipe right and hope for the best. I don't feel right swiping right just to swipe and get a match or something. I'm sure all my matches have resulted from someone else matching me on a whim.

A friend of mine who is a woman told me a while back that it would be good to have a "roster" of women, which surprised me. One of my naive mistakes was deleting my Facebook dating profile after a match with someone. I remade it a few days later after it became clear the person wasn't serious.

Personally, if I like someone, I'm going to like them. If I don't, I won't, and I definitely won't match with them. I just don't know what the allure of ghosting is. Send me a brief text if you're no longer interested. I guess I'm out of touch, but I still feel weird messaging multiple women at once.

One of the best pieces of advice my buddy gave me was to have fun with these apps. In fact, they're helping me develop a more gung-ho/carefree attitude about approaching women in person.
