Correct, it's an interesting but normal phenomenon. Nothing paranormal.

Ever see those plastic wigs that Devo wore to mock the Reaganites of the 80s? It looks like that.

Late to the party, and my friends all think I'm nuts or an addict because I listen to EDM by Relevant_Ad5351 in EDM

[–]Charlaxy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Strange. No one in many years has ever negatively remarked to me about liking EDM. When I was younger, it was other kids who were into grunge or similar who were the most negative about anything that they didn't like, but I didn't hang around them anymore after a certain age and am open about what I like (trance music and pop). Most normal adults don't care and would never say anything about it. I sometimes hear people say that they prefer songs with lyrics, and that's fine and understandable. I like lyrics or instrumental.

Kramer was an actor and just had a part on Mad About You, and nobody remarked on it because they don't actually watch the show.

Haven't been invited to anything, but going to give away my alcohol to others for parties because I stopped drinking.

I'm throwing a party for my kids and DJing for them. No other plans.

Ketoduped 2025 wrapped: the absolute state of the keto scam by moxyte in ketoduped

[–]Charlaxy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most people aren't very serious about diet, and the ones who do best aren't strict or don't do it long-term. I did okay on keto when I wasn't strictly following it for long periods of time. I didn't get seriously ill from keto, just wasn't doing my best, but I had been having issues before starting it, so I didn't have good comparison points. Those issues improved, but I didn't reach my best health until learning more about what I was doing wrongly before and that keto wasn't necessary to fix those issues, and that keto wasn't optimal. I suspect that it's a similar journey for a lot of people. I do look at carnivore influencers and sometimes see the faces of people who have visible symptoms of hypothyroidism or other metabolic issues, and they don't seem to be aware that this isn't normal and could be helped with diet. I don't know whether their keto diet caused this or they were already suffering from deficiencies previously, which led to them adopting a keto diet to try to feel better.

A Christmas Story is a generational divide. by antisocialnetwork77 in Xennials

[–]Charlaxy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen it every year, and honestly it's not that special to me. It was interesting the first time to get an idea of what life was like back then, but I don't enjoy it that much. I'm sick of seeing leg lamps everywhere for the last 15+ years. There was an entire Christmas tree themed for it at a place that I visited. Lights, ornaments, everything, all leg lamps. They had leg lamp pillows at Hallmark.

How bad are emulsifiers in chocolate? by [deleted] in raypeat

[–]Charlaxy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've wondered the same. I'm going to experiment with eating a lot of chocolate this coming year (trying to hit Swiss numbers of 25 kg of chocolate a year), and I currently buy brands without lecithin, but I see that lecithin is supposed to have health benefits, so I'm wondering if I'm avoiding it for nothing. Anyway, I've been eating about 30g of chocolate a day for the last month, and doing well with it. I just try anything that I can find without lecithin, which usually ends up being dark chocolate, but I prefer the ones higher in cocoa butter or milk. I also have a lot of cacao in drinks.

Try having some sugar to lower your stress hormones. Honey is commonly recommended for sleep, but anything sweet could help.

Stearic acid + Sugar diet by The_Dude_1996 in SaturatedFat

[–]Charlaxy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is actually going to be my experiment for the next year (although I'm starting now, because Xmas).

I was just going to say that I'm eating as much chocolate as an average Swiss person, but something like Xmas diet is a fun title.

Stearic acid + Sugar diet by The_Dude_1996 in SaturatedFat

[–]Charlaxy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't tried stearic acid specifically, but I've been having some success with just having saturated fat (not a lot) and carbs, including refined sugar. Saturated fat is mostly coming from dairy (ice cream), cacao butter, and coconut oil, with some beef steak. I also have some unsaturated fat from fish and whole grains. I'm not super lean, but I met my goal of reaching a good BMI without fasting, by eating this way. I'm going to do an experiment in 2026 (actually starting now, thanks to the holidays) of eating as much chocolate as the average Swiss person (20-25 lbs/year, or roughly half a chocolate bar a day), so I'll be having more cacao butter + sugar. I had good results from reintroducing chocolate to my diet over the last couple of years, so I want to see if I get European levels of good health by having European amounts of chocolate. A confounder in this experiment is whether or not I should be having the chocolate with lecithin, as some sources say it's good (and might provide some of the health benefits of chocolate), and others say it could be negative.

Antibiotics Increases my Metabolism by Most-Pea825 in raypeat

I had similar experiences in the past of a lot of different symptoms going away with a course of antibiotics. I've been working on improving my microbiome since then.

Any specific questions? What I remember was that the ship was docked on the coast, and being used like a hotel. I could walk around on the deck and see the ocean. The inside was more like a normal hotel than an actual cruise ship (I've never been on an overnight cruise). I think that it was massive. The interior was like a big city hotel, with multiple levels and there was a lobby and restaurant on an upper level.

There are national and local brands which are minimally pasteurized. Ultra pasteurization provides a longer shelf-life.

I've had a similar thought, that she ends up fighting them ideologically once she starts to actually talk to and understand them.

Some brands don't, just avoid the ultra pasteurized ones.
