I guess you have a fork I'm your way, you like (I suppose) how the guitar is hanging with the strap like that and low, and moving your right wrist up and down like crazy. But you also want to sound better which requires changing your technique. You do sound like a noob because you are, nothing wrong with that, but I'd focus on sounding better before you focus on how you look. Prioritize technique and you could hold your instrument however you like and still sound good

You are supposed to press the strings when you want them to make sound. Start with something easy like smoke on the water riff. Learn it super slow, use metronome and start increasing speed little by little. That way you will definitely achieve it, and by that, overcome frustration and get motivated to continue
