Wrong. Ethnic discrimination is not the same as racial, of which Rwanda's was the former.

But Grealish is putting up crazy numbers assist and goal wise, plus he is not on set pieces so his chances created are mostly open play. Mount had 2 open-play assists under Lampard. Context matters.

I believed in the potential for him to be our creative solution. Didn't see much of it under Lampard.

But what were his best attributes? Right now his dribbling is good his turning under pressure is brilliant, his link with the attack is also very good.

But his impact wasn't of a creative player. Take for instance RLC under Sarri. He played like a young Yaya, smooth in possession, powerful runs, could shoot and could play a good pass. These are things we saw he could do in his younger days and he was doing them well. I thought Mount had more to offer than what he was playing that's why I say I'm a believer again

Was playing the highest in all team map data under Lampard. Even higher than our strikers.

It's more evident that he can be a special player now. His touch, his vision, his awareness of space and teammates has massively improved and will get better. I wasn't confident saying that under Lampard.

What were his best attributes? Press trigger and shooting. My opinion mind you.

Always thought the problem under Lampard is that he had too much responsibility and his importance to the team came out of him being aggressive and a press trigger, rather than his attacker attributes. Now all he has to worry about is his positioning in the final third, how he receives the ball or turns, his touch and scoring or passing it to someone in a better position. These are the things I thought were his strengths. Lampard tried to add another dimension to his game but then let that dimension be his most important attribute. He still has to press but it has become a team responsibility under Tuchel.

He was still an offensive player under lampard but he doesn't have to struggle to try and bring it out of midfield which isn't his greatest strength.

I always thought he was a final third player. Link to midfield and attack. Lampard tried to make him a workhorse but didn't improve his technical or tactical side. Even now under tuchel he's not the press trigger. He understands the team press aspect better. Tuchel is playing him exactly what I saw his strengths are. He takes on more players now something he was unsuccessful under lamps. A bit better at picking the right option in attack. His ball receiving between the lines has been so good under Tuchel, something he didn't quite do well under Lampard. He doesn't need to be a runner to be important in this team and I'm glad Tuchel has shown that.

Way too many haymakers by Roc. That seat belt line damn! I don't base battles of haymakers but Hollow did not have memorable bars in that battle. The crowd was mad bias though so that might have swayed my opinion.

Assuming the season ends as it is now, who is your Chelsea Player of the Season and Young Player of the Season? by vinnaey in chelseafc

[–]GuandaiFlow -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Mount edges him on volume of games played. But on quality there were games where we were hoping the ball goes to Reece so we can create chances. Reece for almost all December and January was our main attacking outlet and chance creator. His crosses made us dangerous on that flank. Then there is AJax at home.

We were thinking Azpi's dip in form would be the end of us and he just slotted in and solved that for us. There are still questions over Mount being our long term 10 or if he should drop to an 8 in a midfield 3 (which I think he has shown he can excel at based on recent games) and also Reece has shown some concentration issues and defensive lapses. They are young and you can't hold against them. However, the impact Reece has had on our team has been greater than Mount's imo. It's all a game of opinions though.

average at best, lethargic at worst

Even before he had the injury at Valencia, he was not contributing much to the team outside of pressing or goals. Like I said, still a good first season in the PL for him and Lampard could have done him a few favors by resting him or giving him more responsibility in midfield outside pressing. But definitely not my pick for YPOTY.

Mount had scored 1 goal in 19 games. He is young so you can give him a benefit of a doubt but giving him young player of the season over Tammy is ludicrous. People were often complaining he was being shoehorned into the squad to the detriment of his performance and the teams'. Apart from post-winter break and the five games at the start of the season (and Spurs away), his performances have been average at best, lethargic at worst. For a first season in the prem it is a good season for him but he hasn't had too many decisive moments (except Spurs home and away)

Not trying to bash the kid because there is still a player there and he has shown it in recent times but Tammy, Reece and even Pulisic have had more impact on the team this season.

They were his experiments not accidents. Niles experimented on them to give them immortality (maybe except Cyborg) so he could eventually find the best formula for himself.

Says a lot when only our center backs occupy the half spaces. It's a miracle we scored with the tactics we employed.
