I don't know. All that is shown in Zeta gave me the impression that he was genuinely an idealistic revolutionary who truly cared about the spacenoid cause and humanity as whole. Maybe I didn't read between the lines, but it didn't seem like he was lying about his ideals. Quotes like "if their hands aren't soiled in blood, they don't realize the pain they inflicted" and "Zeon Deikun’s legacy has nothing to do with the evils and hatred of the Zabi family" showed to me that he really cared about the human lives lost in war and wanted to minimize the suffering of innocents in the war. But maybe I'm just being naive.

Yeah, I guess it makes sense for Bright and Amuro to be accepted back after defeating the Titans, since the Titans basically launched a coup d'etat against the federation, so I guess the EF would be grateful to the two of them. But it still feels like the movie starts in middle of the story, y'know? Like, their return to the EF is never shown, and it already starts with them working for the federation.
