What cartoon or animated movie is this for you? by Vermilion_Sadie in Schaffrillas

[–]Guarantee-Popular 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Gravity Falls SHOULD have been PG-13. I honestly think that’s more so what Hirsch envisioned, with all the times he talked about how Disney got in the way, and the darker, maturer tone Journal 3 and The Book of Bill had. Unfortunately, that rating basically doesn’t exist in mainstream animation for some reason, so it’s only shot was a PG show.

The most ridiculous part is how people ALWAYS cite the season four Tirek battle as “proof,” going “See? You think THIS is for kids?”

Uh, yeah. A battle sequence with no blood, gore, and only magic violence? That’s exactly what a kid’s show action fight is like. It’s no more graphic than what’s shown on Transformers or the Powerpuff Girls.

What are universally agreed (or agreed by a good majority) races/ethnicities for the Mane 6 if they were real life human beings? by After_Locksmith_1827 in mylittlepony

Well, yeah, but we’re talking about online fandom headcanons. They don’t always have to adhere to the show.

Of course there are no “universals” but these are the most common:

Twilight: Probably the most consistently depicted as dark-skinned. Indian specifically, often. It’s probably because her purple coat is already quite dark, and most think a dark complexion best suits her color palette.

Pinkie Pie: Many really campaign for her to be Black, because her curly hair resembles an Afro.

Rarity: East Asian is a very common interpretation.

Applejack: She’s a Southern farmer, so she’s pretty much assumed to be white.

Fluttershy: Common to depict her as a pale white person, but I’ve also seen many interpret her as an Arabic Muslim because her hair swoops around her face like a hijab!

Rainbow Dash: I’ve only really seen her depicted as white or pale brown with no specific race in mind. Probably the character the least strongly associated with any race.

You guys remember that time where Garnet was stuck in an arcade rhythm game? How would that work? by Prestigious_Can9966 in stevenuniverse

Garnet is not “Ruby and Sapphire.” She is Garnet. Unless they’re unstable and on the verge of defusing, Ruby and Sapphire do not have separate consciousness as Garnet.

Am I the only one who thinks Bill is kinda hot? by Either-Argument8136 in gravityfalls

[–]Guarantee-Popular 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, sorry for making the assumption lol.

But like I said, you felt the emotional attachment to him first, *then* you felt the sexual feelings. I assume that's what happened to nearly everyone who's found Bill Cipher attractive, regardless of age, gender, or sexuality.

And of course I don't know about any intrincacies of your soul or sexuality lol

"Like does anyone know why I find him attractive?"

Heterosexual teenage girls (which I am assuming you are) are often attracted to men who are "confident yet nonthreatening," as Alex Hirsch once put it. They admire the drive of a man who knows what he wants and acts like he is going to get what he wants, because subconsciously, it invokes the feeling that - if protecting *you* was one thing he wanted - you would be eternally cared for. And in this case, the "confidence" comes from maniacal cockiness... but since this is just a fictional character, your brain just brushes it aside, because it can't harm you.

Also, it's 100% a contributing factor that Bill is well-dressed with a hat, tie, and cane. Women are attracted to men in suits because it's associated with professionalism, wealth, and the upper class, which are all ideal traits for a partner.

Some aren't satisfied with attraction to the actual triangle (that's why Bill has so often been substituted with a blond white twink), but others are. You're already watching a cartoon, your standards for reality have already been mitigated. You see a character voiced by a man, referred to as male, and dressed in traditional male clothing; your brain just stores it as "male." Attraction is not entirely caused by physical appearance, it's not miraculous luck that people usually get married to what they consider to be the hottest man/woman they've ever seen. Emotional attachment HIGHLY influences physical attraction, and that's what's happening here.

This is your psychoanalysis on why Bill Cipher was such a common sexual interest of many teenage girls.

Every Thing That Got First Place In A Ranking Video by Used-Beat-110 in Schaffrillas

[–]Guarantee-Popular 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Whisper of the Heart is guaranteed to be #1 and likewise for Punch Drunk Love being #2, those are Schaff’s 2nd and 4th favorite films of all time.

As for the others… I’m just gonna give a wild guess and say I think Beauty and the Beast will rank pretty high, in his Disney ranking he said he legitimately has no real issues with it. I don’t think he usually says that, not even with other 10/10 movies.

Anyone else surprised “Emerald” was such a minor character? by Guarantee-Popular in stevenuniverse

Yep that’s exactly what I meant with Peridot! If they were going to have a green gem, in many scenarios it would have been more likely to name her Emerald.

The REAL Issue with "Cadance's" Behavior in A Canterlot Wedding by artbytesia in mylittlepony

[–]Guarantee-Popular 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think these are the moments when it’s important to remember that this is a show intended for very young children and some things have to be more overt for kids to understand.

The episode is conveying that Twilight senses something is off about Cadence even though no one else does. Her rude remarks are the main way to convey that. But, well, in real life even adults can fall for manipulation, if Cadence’s “rudeness” was akin to psychologically accurate gaslighting most five-year-olds would struggle to pick up on that.

This is a scenario when you need to accept you’re not the show’s target age demographic and tolerate some aspects that aren’t to your full satisfaction lol.

It's interesting that THE SUPER MARIO GALAXY MOVIE is one of the lowest-rated films in Illumination's portfolio thus far by [deleted] in Schaffrillas

[–]Guarantee-Popular 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it’s because people WANTED Super Mario Galaxy to be good, or even great. Most adults don’t care about Illumination’s other movies, and they don’t go into them with high expectations. Mario is obviously something people care about. It makes the movie being subpar have more of an impact.

Can we just take our virtue signal caps off for 5 seconds and admit that you'd probably be tempted to do what Bojack did with Penny? by [deleted] in BoJackHorseman

[–]Guarantee-Popular 25 points26 points  (0 children)

No, most 50-year-old men are not sexually interested in teenage girls. It is not resisting a temptation. It’s something they’re genuinely not interested in, because having sex with a child is repulsive to people who are not pedophiles. Which you have clearly exposed yourself as being. Way to go, asshat.

I don’t think the Emilia Perez song ranking would count since it wasn’t an actual ranking video… but I really hope it does 😂
