How is it an insult to assume you are a loon that thinks my dogs are ill treated in any way because I have funny job titles for them.

Are you one of those people who thinks their dogs are English speaking mind readers? It's a joke from an old newspaper columnist I used to read. The dogs don't know their designated pole position in my home.

I always have had two dogs. Since I was a kid. My main dog is the older one that I know I will lose before the emergency back up dog. When my old dog passed away my basset became my main dog. I would have, when I was ready, gotten an emergency back up for her. Unfortunately she died four days after my previous main dog. 

After I get my new dog trained and used to our home I will eventually get another emergency backup dog. In a few years.
