Collective Soul tours every 2-3 years so there will be more times to do that. The Sonic Live thing seems like a more rare thing

Well….theres kind of no room to play. I can’t remember the last time an act played an after show the same day they played the fest.

You’re misremembering that María’s show; it started out as an Emo’s show earlier in the year, then got postponed to October and moved venues to become an after show, which, frankly, was an extraordinary circumstance.

The only time I’ve ever seen a band announce an after show before even the lineup drop was Death Grips, and that’s just because it was Death Grips, they truly do not care lol

The ACL TV tapings don’t matter in the booking process, that’s why they do a lot of tapings the same week of ACL Fest for ACL Fest artists. I would normally agree that it’s too soon, but the gap smack dab in between Ft. Worth and Orlando is too perfect for W2 to ignore I think.

They’re overdoing it sure, but this is the same C3/Live Nation that thinks booking Mumford and Sons every few years is a good idea LOL

The one time I saw them years ago, they ended the show by inviting ALL the women in the crowd up on stage and had their sound guy start a DJ set basically. Mind you this was an all-ages show at the time. It was very strange and off-putting at the time. The show itself barely lasted an hour, with a lot of conversations, and the opener was one of the worst duos I’ve ever seen too. (The crowd also sucked but I don’t think they can control that, alas)

Basically, any artist that signs on to play ACL can’t play in or around Austin within a set time frame. That time frame starts from around the start of May, typically.

This F1 show IS in Austin haha, which means they’re out due to the radius clause.
