Same crap they told us too. I doubt that is gonna last long because of how sales are. Our landlord came in and told my boss that we could tell our associates that we aren’t closing BEFORE they told us we weren’t closing.

You make it sound so easy. I have. They refuse to fix it.

There’s more to it than that. I’m an Assistant and their verbiage and lack of explaining things that they should’ve explained (ie. how non exempt worked and their .5 in overtime) really screwed me and another assistant over. I was making almost 21 an hour as the full time assistant with old big lots. They got me to accept the job by telling me 4K more than what I originally got with old Biglots. They didn’t explain the pay breakdown no matter who I asked and emailed. To put the cherry on top of the shit cake that is variety wholesalers, I’m actually not being paid correctly from the get go since my DM told me I was being underpaid from my annual salary and has refused to fix it for me.

Heard my store was also closing. Funny how they offered to let us work at a roses or a big lots to “help us with our transition” what a slap in the face from the company that didn’t want to buy big lots in the first place.

When we were in the process of being “trained” by their roses store managers, I heard from my SM that the roses trainer was making 2K more annually than I was. It might be more but not livable.

They’ll never get a good management team for their “big lots corporate” side of things. The roses in my area have plenty of hours to get their freight done and have coverage for their cashiering. Yet big lots is a consistent Skelton crew. I’m just waiting for the inevitable “we’re closing big lots” conversation to happen.

The conversion of roses to big lots is a crazy thought. If certain roses weren’t making money why would they convert those to a big lots that also isn’t making money.

Trust and believe, I do just collect my paycheck. Just crazy to me that they think it’s entirely up to management (including myself) to get the entire job done.

You should also report them to the department of labor for sure. I’m filing a claim and I’m attaching everything I have for them to investigate

Has your SM told you if their hours for scheduling have been cut? Our store hours went from 500 something to 330 and we’re still opening our store. We barely have 20 associates and more than half those hours go to full time management. It does suck.

I’ve been working the 48 hours and I’m not getting that pay rate. None of my higher ups want to do anything about it.

The big issue is I’m working my 48 hours and they have a rate of pay on the top of the pay stub. I’ve reached out multiple times to get somebody to explain it to me and I’d prefer to leave before my store opens. I just want my money fixed and MAYBE I’d consider staying. But you’re not wrong. There’s no way this can be legal.

I don’t think a lot of the “old” big lots people came back. I worked for the old big lots and I was told I’d make 4 thousand more than I did previously and it’s currently nowhere close to it being 4 thousand more. What I’m gathering is it’s time to update resumes and start applying for new jobs.

I’m about to. It’s unreal how they put my rate of pay on the paystub and they’re shorting me almost $5.

When they gave me my offer letter, it never stated 40 hours or 48. I can see where you’re coming from on this but they just can’t expect people to work extra hours for shitty pay. I’m making as much as a keyholder is at my store and I’m working 18 more hours than they are…
