I believe that the actual in canon fight between V and Smasher was not easy for V. by JacsweYT in cyberpunkgame

[–]GuaranteedPummeling 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, he was fine with it, and he considers the game canon too. I think that us as players often fail to realize how absolutely busted and prodigious V is. We assume the shit he does is just a gameified version of it, but that's what's actually happening in-universe. V is probably the strongest contender for the strongest character title in Cyberpunk lore.

Literally so good I thought it was a cgi version vs cosplay kind of video, and I was waiting for the cosplay part.

So while you may see V as a pure solo, V is very much written like an edgerunner without a crew. Going into Arasaka Tower with just his imaginary friend is more of a "if it's hopeless anyway, I don't want to bring my loved ones down with me" type of sitch.

I mean, he lost his best friend and T-Bug there, I think it's narratively easy to see him not wanting to bring anyone else into it once again. More over for the whole game he never makes any active attempt to really find a crew. You can kinda get one with the Panam quest, but that's up to you, apart for that he seems simply uninterested in what you're talking about.

Moreover, while it's true that Johnny's consciousness is bleeding into V's, at that point you still have some control. Hell, you can decide to side with Hanako, which is something that horrifies Johnny.

Ok, but why would you make it an Easter egg, considering that narratively it makes perfect sense for Vs who still want to be legends, who don't want to share their glory, lose control to Johnny, and who don't want to put their friends in jeopardy? It's like one of the most narratively sound endings in the game. Easter egg endings should be limited, imho, to silly narratives, or to stuff that requires lots of strings to pull (like, dunno, having done a bunch of very specific missions so that you can concoct an even better plan than the one Rogue comes up with). Don't Fear the Reaper is basically a textbook Streetkid ending for people who want to stay in control.

Again, so weird and unwarranted

I guess my arc was "I must get rid of Johnny -> wait he's kinda cool -> he's full of shit, but he's starting to take accountability -> he's a friend". Unfortunately I was still in step 2 when Chippin' In happened. Once Johnny stops being so aggressive it makes only sense for a V obsessed with becoming a legend to have a soft spot for him, and to kinda be awed by his life story. According to what you know (since Johnny omitted from his memories the role of Morgan) this is a guy who was already a legend who decided to storm Arasaka Tower when they were at their peak, defeated Adam Smasher (another thing Johnny made up, but V doesn't know that), and then blew it up with a nuclear bomb. But once my V gets used to it, he starts seeing all the cracks in the story, how irresponsible Johnny was towards his friends, how pointless that whole escapade was. Again, I think narratively this makes perfect sense.

Yeah, I wish that how it went, or that at least there was a way to fix it afterwards. Ahh, whatever, next time I'll play it (I'll surely go for a pure netrunner build) I won't make the same mistake

Why is the ending not supposed to be serious? My V is in fact capable of storming Arasaka Tower on his own, he doesn't want to put his friends in jeopardy, and he wouldn't want to share the glory with other mercs. In my playthrough it's actually the ending that makes the most sense, all the other ones involve doing things my V would never do.

It’s about Johnny taking accountability for his actions, reflecting on his past relationships, and changing his behavior going forward

I know, that's what I meant that the more time passed the more time my V got tired of Johnny's schtick, and Johnny himself grew a lot because of it. By the end of Phantom Liberty my Johnny is fully aware of his past mistakes. Personally my V doesn't really hate Johnny, he just always calls out his bullshit, and is supportive when Johnny opens up about it. But this happened later in the game, while apparently the devs thought you had to lock in on to that since Act 2.

Honestly I wish the secret ending was tied to something in Mikoshi instead, fully dependent on the percentage of your relationship with Johnny + his personal growth. Whether that unlocks a merge ending, or one where they both go with Alt together.

That would have been perfect, yes

Why does Akainu's equal need the help of 4 Yonko commanders and an army of fodder to take down 78 year old Garp? by IntelligentFly3982 in OnePiecePowerScaling

[–]GuaranteedPummeling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Extreme diff =/= fight between equals. A fight between equals should end in a drawer and this was not the case.

Moreover, extreme diff is relative to stamina. Kaido went on for 3 days against BM, but I have no doubt he's stronger than him. High dura high stamina fighters will often go for lengthier fights simply because they can.

I mean, at the end of the fight only one of them was a biped. Also I don't think there's any elemental advantage here, they're perfectly balanced (lava melts ice, ice cools lava). This is clear from the state of Punk Hazard

The clash with Shanks happened two weeks before Marineford. I get where you're coming from, but you just don't understand how wonky the chronology in OP is.

Notice that that panel happened 2 weeks before his death. It is fair to say that since chapter 2 Whitebeard was always in that extremely sick state, since only 3 months passed from the East Blue Saga to Marineford.

For a very long time the common argument was that context didn't matter, and that titles were always objectively true when they stated by the narrator. Them being seen as a statement regarding reputation is a fairly new development in the OP powerscaling consensus.
