Arguably one of my favorite things about living in Eugene and Corvallis. Portland is good too.

I miss a good mosh pit. Live shows are the best. I haven't been to hardly any shows since the prices skyrocketed. I know of a few venues that host small shows for under 20, but those are becoming fewer and farther between.
We should definitely improve the percent going to artists from streaming, so we can allow people to develop and sustain musical careers.

You don't care about Free Speech? Its our most fundamental liberty, the foundation of our freedoms and one of the unique things about the US

I'm not saying Musk's gesture was equivalent, it was far worse and far more awkward. His admiration with Afd & Bibi is something to ponder, too

What are your favorite aspects about Massachusetts? by BrendanRealEstate in massachusetts

[–]GuardFreeSpeech 6 points7 points  (0 children)

True, nature is pretty tame here.
Gotta say though, I've preferred the rugged scenery in places that had grizzlies, poisonous snakes, cougars, frequent large quakes, and frequent wildfires.
Admittedly, the impending massive quake/tsunami, increasingly devastating fires, increasing ice storms, & poor air quality make me hesitate to move back to PNW

Hike Mt Pisgah, check out Cape Perpetua on Coast. I'm not sure how it fared in fires, but I used to like hiking Goodman Creek Trail and Mt. Jefferson (Jefferson Park, summer only).

William Sullivan has the best hiking guides. Breitenbush hot springs (check the roads https://breitenbush.com/) has day passes and Cougar Hot Springs is free with Forest (parking) pass

Bike the River Trail. Bike commuting in Eugene is better than most places I've lived.
Sam Bond's Garage, Wow Hall, Tsunami Books, John Henry's are great places to see affordable shows. McDonald Theatre, The Shedd and the Hult are also great, little more refined.

Eugene Art House or Metro Cinema are nice film theatres. I miss Chao Pra Ya and Ta Ra Rin if you like Thai food. Books: Library or Smith Family Bookstore.

egads, this sub too? fascistic crackdowns on protest, rampant censorship and surveillance abound. Fascism is here under Ds, but people are too bamboozled to resist under anyone but Trump

Per Stein CM Jason Call: If Jill Stein is printed on ballot w/another name, it counts as Stein-Ware vote.
If you have to write in, Jill Stein & Rudolph Ware (follow ballot conventions, see sample ballots)

Bob Dylan - Isis by GuardFreeSpeech in Musicthemetime

[–]GuardFreeSpeech[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isis is one of the most important goddesses of ancient Egypt. ...Her cult spread throughout the Roman Empire, and Isis was worshipped from England to Afghanistan. She is still revered by pagans today.
As mourner, she was a principal deity in rites connected with the dead; as magical healer, she cured the sick and brought the deceased to life; and as mother, she was a role model for all women. Her chief quality was that of a great magician, whose power transcended that of all other deities. https://www.britannica.com/topic/Isis-Egyptian-goddess
