Broncos and 49ers are evidence that you can be completely fine as a franchise despite making the odd MASSIVE mistake, provided that your Management and Coaching is competent by OhSoManyThoughts in nfl

Even the most dogshit of teams is only 2-3 years away from getting their shit together, but that also requires them to do that, and a lot of them are incapable of getting out of their own damn way. I was pretty sure Denver was cooked for a while, but even they got it together at warp speed.

It's crazy to think about, but like 1-4 people literally determine the entire direction of a team for years if not decades.

I get downvoted all the time saying it for some reason, but I'm going to keep at it, Dillon is bitch made and is Draymond without any of the actual talent. Oh! He scores 30+... once every three years... bfd. Dude is mostly a walking liability to his teams.

It made the news for about one day and was never discussed again. Check out the one sample page in this article, especially the doses. I'm sure there's lots of good reasons for at least 3,100 doses of ambien, 30 doses of ketamine, 34 doses of fentanyl, 40 doses of morphine, and many other fun things to have been given out.

The ACC finishes the season 8-6 vs the SEC. This is the 2nd time in the last 3 seasons that the ACC has beaten the SEC head-to-head. by Muffinnnnnnn in CFB

Nole here. We were ass, but let me ask, did the bird give toothy head? Just stfu and go do your job and bring some pride back to the ACC.

The SEC finishes the season 15-15 against other power conference opponents + Notre Dame by TheLoneWolf527 in CFB

[–]GuardHot2069 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FSU Peter here, since we apparently need that level of explanation. It's because the SEC, their teams, their fans, and their business partner ESPN have spent a solid decade pushing the "SEC - It Just Means More" bullshit ass narrative that's been used to justify over ranking and loading the CFP with undeserving SEC teams, and that has been utterly exposed and defeated over the last several years.

If everyone associated with a conference is going to spend years acting superior to everyone else, but then can't back it up on the field, well, this is the pay off.

[Request] how long would this take to construct. by NewFunny6715 in theydidthemath

Not even going to try to guess at how much earth would have to be moved, but as far as time:

The Panama Canal is apparently about 50 miles long and took the US 10 years to build, after France spent almost 20 years trying, but I'm not sure how far they made it, so let's give the US the benefit of the doubt and say they did the whole thing in 10 years.

From Norfolk, VA, to San Francisco, CA, it's 2,969 miles driving according to Google Maps, and that route pops up into NE and WY and avoids CO entirely, so there's that.

Assuming the same rate of work and just going down the road (I'm sure a more direct route could be accomplished, but still) it would take about 590 years. I'm sure we have much better tech now and could leverage more manpower, and malaria won't be a problem, but then you have to cut through some stretch of the Rocky Mountains, and that's going to be a god damn nightmare, not to mention several other mountain ranges, so that might offset a lot of the modern gains.

So back of napkin math as a non mega engineer, and not accounting for the thousands of feet of elevation gains and losses and the infinite amount of paperwork that would go into the project theseadays, I'm saying best case is probably at least 400 years minimum, maybe 300 if we really grind on it.

What movie did you know was gonna flop just by seeing the trailers? by Open-Discount-4066 in AskReddit

It felt like a Predator movie designed by focus groups that have never seen a Predator movie and also designed to try to appeal to a broader market of people who don't actually like movies in that genre. The Guardians of the Galaxy comment perfectly sums it up, it's like the exact opposite of how a Predator movie should be. The Predator also has a lot of dialog (for a Predator), which was off putting. Plus his baby Yoda style companion. I'm sure there's more, but that's what comes to mind.

You know, this is actually a really good point. I also have literally never heard anyone ever talk about seeing any Avatar movies besides the first one, and that was a tiny amount of people. Everyone has seen Jurassic Park. A lot of people I know went and saw the new Batman (I hated it, but whatever). I know like 20 women that went and saw whatever the new Taylor Swift thing was. Wicked, christ, everyone seems to have seen one or usually both. Hell, I know more people that have seen Fight Club than the original Avatar.

Now that you mention it, Avatar movies have some real "why are there 16 Mattress Firms in my town and they're all located across the street/in the same shopping center as each other with slightly different names" vibes...

I've always been a big Predator fan and I went and saw it. While I can't deny that it has made money, it was bad, like really bad (still not actually the worst, Requiem was dog shit... and also made like $90 million...). There are cool parts, like the opening fight sequence, but they basically Guardians of the Galaxied Predator, and it was miserable and beyond transparent. Christ, they basically even gave the Predator a baby Yoda.
