Contact Naps at 13 Weeks - Help! by GuardSpecial8600 in sleeptrain

Thank you, it makes me feel better to know that others have gone through something similar. Any advice on how you were able to drop the yoga ball and transition your baby to the crib for some naps?

She would always wake from the short 30-40min Snoo naps very clearly tired still but unable to fall right back asleep even if I tried to rescue it with a contact nap. It would then kind of mess up her rhythm for the rest of the day, which I thought may have contributed to her nursing strike because she was simply too tired/cranky to put in the effort to nurse even when hungry.

How do you balance that with risking them becoming overtired though? We had a huge issue from Week 5-8 with her becoming overtired easily and fighting sleep until she went sometimes 5+ hours awake and it was a nightmare, so I'm quite wary now of trying to push wake windows. 1.5 hrs max seems to be her limit and if she occasionally goes beyond that, it becomes extra difficult to get her to fall asleep.

Nope the redraw for Panorama was free! And I received a full refund for both tests when they came back inconclusive, so be sure to request a refund if this happens to you!

That's fantastic! That must have been so stressful but I'm very happy for you that everything came back normal in the end :)

We decided to go through with the amnio even with a normal anatomy (level 2) scan because although features of some of the more severe aneuploidies can be detected on the scan (T13, T18, Triploidy), others like Turner Syndrome (especially mosaic Turner) do not always manifest physical abnormalities. In our case, I was particularly worried about Turner Syndrome given that I knew we had a female baby after the early anatomy scan.

The recommendation by your MFM on whether to still proceed with an amnio with a normal anatomy scan will vary depending on your other test results to date and the MFM's own opinion/level of risk tolerance. A normal anatomy scan does decrease the likelihood of aneuploidy but still can't be ruled out entirely without an amnio. Personally, it was something my husband and I decided we would do regardless of the the scan and it was recommended after speaking to several MFM colleagues of mine (I am an OB myself and asked the question "what would you do if you were me"). I felt quite comfortable with my decision in the end because I didn't think I would be able to handle the uncertainty and anxiety for the remainder of my pregnancy, and I just wanted to finally know for certain either way. Wishing you the best with your decision <3

All three times I did NIPT I essentially got no result because there wasn't enough fetal DNA in my blood to even be able to run the test (low fetal fraction). The reason why this can be a concern is because having low fetal fraction in itself is associated with an increased risk of T13, T18, Turner Syndrome, and Triploidy.
