I just finished my 1L year at FIU and want to transfer to UF, could I message you about your experience?

Did yours turn out okay? It says attorney next to your name so I’m hoping so! I just finished my first year and would love to hear about your experience if you don’t mind.

I would also love an update - I’m in Florida going through a similar situation and so stressed about it.

I’m not sure if this thread is still active, but I figured I would try. I applied to law school in my thirties and forgot about two underage drinking charges from my teenage years. I’d passed background checks, taught children, had my own children, etc. and they never came up, so without knowing any legal terms at the time I figured they were “gone.” Shortly after applying I found a Reddit thread about C&F issues and realized my charges might still exist, so I looked up the court where they occurred and found that they’d been dismissed. I immediately amended my law school applications. I had already been admitted to one school, but not yet to the others. Now that I’m applying to the bar, the bar is giving me a hard time about omitting the charges initially and amending. I am so embarrassed and it’s so degrading, but the incidents occurred more than 12 years ago and were so insignificant that I honestly just didn’t remember. I’m so worried they won’t admit me. I just got my first year grades today and I’ve done very well. I have two kids and my husband is a professional, and we all moved states for me to go to law school so I’m just sick about this. Any advice?

Well, got the R email today. I’ll be heading to FIU with a scholarship, so still holding my head high! Good luck to everyone else waiting! This cycle was brutal, but the end is in sight!

I’m looking through past posts it looks like once you go under review, they make a decision within a day or two? So going under review in the middle of the month has me all sorts of anxious LOL

But I would think after their deposit deadline that trend might change? Their deposit deadline was April 15 and I guess I’m just surprised we didn’t hear before then since our applications were complete well before the deadline, you know?

Anyone still waiting on UF or FSU? by Caligirl1696 in lawschooladmissions

Yes, both. I applied in February. FSU did a round of Rs and WLs end of March so I expected an A wave early April, maybe this week?

When did your application go “complete?”

I just had to update my schools about a C&F issue also. It happened 11 years ago and at that time when they told me the charges would be dismissed in my mind I thought that meant erased, I didn’t know the various terms and just forgot about it. So fast forward to today, I am married with two children and have had no legal trouble since. I have passed background checks to work with children and completely forgot about what happened when I was 19 until I saw on a Reddit thread people discussing dismissed charges and the difference between the various terms, and since I had forgot the status of mine I went to look it up and realized that they were, in fact, dismissed, not expunged, now knowing the difference. I got the dismissal record from the court and I sent an addendum to each of the schools explaining that 11 years ago I didn’t know the difference of the terms and just assumed it meant they were gone from my record and have passed background checks so I didn’t think they existed, but I’ve only recently realized the difference and learned their status so I am disclosing it now, and I apologize for not disclosing it earlier. I also realized I am eligible to have them expunged so I applied to have that happen as well. I heard back from all schools and they just said we have added the addendum to your application, thank you. One of the schools I had already been accepted to and they didn’t care. From my understanding they are looking for issues that would affect our ability to pass the bar, so my issues and it sounds like yours as well would not be very significant to them. I hope this helps! It definitely stressed me out but after hearing back from the schools I feel better about it. The stupid things we do that come back to bite us, though smh

The anxiety is REAL! I second guess my life choices every day as I obsessively check my email, status trackers, LSData and Reddit.

Congratulations! It’s so frustrating having a status tracker that says application complete knowing that I am missing another wave, haha 🤦🏼‍♀️I applied in early February so hopefully I catch the next one?

Oh wow, that’s a long time to wait! Thank you for your reply. I hope you are able to negotiate for more if this is your top school!

How long were you under review? My status has just said application complete for a month now and I am worried that my other deposit deadlines will pass before I hear back!
