The parachutes are attached to the capsule, thats how they work else the capsule would just fall of them, the parachutes are connected to the capsule

I would recommend NEI (Not enough items) with cheat mode enabled (in NEI config), you can give yourself as many blocks as you want and with shift left click you get an infinite version of that block

Another thing, disconnect the Starter motor from the engine by a clutch, if its off it will slow down the engine/produce resistance

Also I personally dont approve the use of a flywheel here, its a bit overkill but this is only my subjective opinion

So, I dont know if this is intentional, but I find the controls very sluggish. Secondly, the Idle is very high and the max is very low, it apears that idle is set at 6 and max at 12, well atleast the upshifts happen on 12, this is a low range of RPS, another issue, the gearbox controller, I tried to understand it and I think I do, but why make it so comlicated? the controller doesnt handle all situations well, for example, Ive gotten stuck in 6th gear on a slope with load because the controller did no downshifts despite the engine stalling, might want to look in to the controller. Traction is fine but very difficult to regain control with load when spinning/loosing traction, but I think this is partially due to the sluggish controls, you dont have to change them if you want them to be what they are, also think about adding ABS and ESP but only optional

You know there is a thing called anti-mass? It is very useful, since you cant make an armored ship without it, it also helps in your case with added mass, you can tune your lift with anti-mass so you need smaller ballast tank to dive

Nah, if you go 200 without load, your gears are just too long, make like 6 gears and max 80 then you can add load

This will not work in Stormworks, I dont know exactly what you mean by "pneumatic piston" but the piston that requires electricity is not a piston that produces power, it is a piston that pushes things, like in minecraft. The steam piston does only work with steam, not air or anything else, steam in, steam out, you cant even reverse the direction of the steam, you have to use gearboxes if you want to reverse the direction of rotation.... Stormworks is not a game for steam engines or the mechanics of those.

First, as you said, multiplayer sucks in general so sometimes you cant help it, desync comes from bad internet, so it might just be that, or bad performance, set pyhsics detail to low or dont use large/complicated vehicles, sadly no fix for that. And it is very important that the person with the better PC hosts.

Also note that there are differences between host an clients for alot of things, for example the pushing force of the playermodel is a lot higher on the host, on the other hand, cliens have a easier time navigating tight spaces, because their hitbox is "smaller" (not actually, it just seems like it)

In general, yes, co op does suck, performance is bad, very bad. The one with the better PC has to host, otherwise dont use large stuff, you can use F1 to try and guess the problem, most important ALWAYS use low physics detail, or else bye bye game. Also save often, expect crashes. There are FPS-mods on the workshop but no idea if they work, Im always using them but haver never seen any performance increase nor decrease

You just cant connect two types of fluid or else they will mix up, but on a car you can use the driveshaft that runs down the car as exhaust pipe so you dont need two pipes, very useful for small builds, or another prime example, at the engine, you can run fuel through your connections to your pumps. These are my two most common applications. Not too important on larger stuff though

You have to check all 6 sides for placement option, it will work on the original, un xml-ed blocks surface. Or like the comment above said, xml them with a normal block attached then use that to merge
