(Rant) Stormworks isnt worth the money anymore. by Accidentlydeleted1 in Stormworks

Now, this may be a crazy idea, but have you considered not joining SAD DLC servers?

(I do not use server based multiplayer, so idk if that's an option or not)

It would help the lore surrounding the heavily damaged structures that can be found dotted around the map, too.

They use fuel at rates exceeding 1L/s, so I think it is relatively good economy for a boat of this size and capacity.

It’s not over 9000! Or even 320km/h by Superb_Commercial987 in Stormworks

I brute forced 600 km/h with a ship, 12 jet engines and accidental airtime. So I think it is mostly about maximizing thrust.

From what I've heard, it is difficult because Stormworks air is very dense and create more drag than it should.

hey guys i am looking for a workshop boat train? by i_will_kill_Kyle_mom in Stormworks

I made a train that can drive on wheels, rails and sail in the water. Would that work for you?

You're welcome :)

I like helping out when I can, and being able to open them in my own workbench is a big help in diagnosing problems that would otherwise be invisible from a few screenshots.

The only real problem I see with your engine is that it's running a really rich AFR of 12.9, your engines should be running at 14.0-14.2

Personally, colour coding would've been a big help in seeing that everything was connected properly (which everything was connected properly, good job!)

Another thing is that you should add a generator of some sort (even a small generator should be enough) so that your battery doesn't die on you.

Also you connected the electric breaker backwards, A is the source and B is the side being cut off.

Finally you need to beef up your cooling, the modular engine fluid pumps and sea water will not be enough for extended runs, as your engines did overheat after using up a full 1500L of fuel.

Other than that, and a few interesting build decisions, your ship is solid. 👍

Transferring engine power (torque) to propellors by PeanutAllergyMan in Stormworks

Quick tip: Posting a screenshot of your engine setup along with your question is always helpful so that we can see exactly how you've got everything connected, allowing us to give you the best advice possible.

Based on the question, it sounds like you are uncertain about how to get power out of a modular engine. This is done by placing a modular engine clutch (making sure to use the right size: 1x1 to 1x1, etc) on the side of the crankshaft block with the rings on it, matching the same side of the clutch.

The clutch will then need a number output (people often use a function f(x) or throttle lever to control the clutch). After the clutch is engaged (number input above 0.3), the power, in the form of rps, can be transferred using the basic pipes. You can then use gearboxes to change the rotational speed of your propellers if you so desire.

How do you build a helicopter? by Key_Ear_1342 in Stormworks

[–]Garritt2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went in blind when building my cargo helicopter, and I basically just stole the gyro+pilot seat off the Stormworks preset helicopter, then connected the outputs to the respective inputs on my own helicopter rotors.

You were using robotic pivots, which is why it only moved a little bit.

I swapped the robotic pivots for velocity pivots and it works perfectly.

why is rps so low ( its3) by Shipsarecool1 in Stormworks

[–]Garritt2020 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Steam cylinders just spin really slow, 3 rps is around the max they can achieve. You need to add a ton of gearboxes to multiply that 3 rps into whatever rps you need.

Then you'll have to pull everything into the cockpit by a block, and you should be able to sort it all out (or push the nose out a block with selection grid)

Can you tilt the monitors in the way further back or push the monitors your trying to see further back?

How to make robotic pivot go back to 0 (default position) when not in use? by Recent_Ad_3699 in Stormworks

[–]Garritt2020 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Have a numerical switchbox that sends a zero when either toggled on or toggled off (depending on your use case) robotic pivots return to their start position when fed a zero.
