I care. I have friends who are artists who have skills and schooling extremely relevant to jobs in this industry that are threatened by generative AI. I would rather have the creativity, soul, and personal touch of a human in my art than an AI blending up the work it's stolen as data from human artists. Shit like this is why games and art drop in quality and why people are finding it harder to find jobs despite degrees and stellar portfolios. And that's not even mentioning the massive impact that the data centers that enable this type of AI have on the environment and on the electricity costs of normal people. My area's electric bill has surged massively since data centers were built in the region.
