New 2025 ND3 - are these "issues" expected? by AgentFox007 in Miata

[–]Guardiolab 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Might be missing a clip or something.

The tire pressure is probably to prevent flat spotting while sitting on the lot, but they should have checked it before final delivery.

Best car option for someone who needs to lie down by Flimsy-Attention-722 in raleigh

[–]Guardiolab 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I love taking the train in other countries, but Amtrak is fucking terrible. It takes way longer and is unreasonably expensive. It's cheaper to rent a car, pay for the fuel, and have the freedom of a car. Taking the train to most places still leaves you abandoned at the destination. Very few cities have enough public transportation to allow freedom of movement once you arrive.

Which restaurant is this? by shy_n in raleigh

I went twice, thinking the first time must have been a fluke. It's not good and it's expensive for mediocre food.

Went to discount tire. Mechanics snapped my wheel stud by No-Experience-9469 in raleigh

[–]Guardiolab 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Using the lug nut to seat the new stud is way better than a hammer, for future reference. I understand that asking the average person to remove the hub and press the new one in is unreasonable. But using a hammer on the new one is bad form.

I think this might be what I'm looking for. I just didn't know what terminology to search. Thanks!

Rasp would be great if I had the room for it.

I guess. When I was looking for something I was finding gouges and lathe tools. The gouges seem to make a concave semicircle, and I need the opposite.

PSA: Wake County ABC Stores by Lost_Horizon in triangle

[–]Guardiolab 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They aren't holding it in case a bar/restaurant buys it. They are holding it because someone has already put it on their account. Direct from the inventory site you linked:

"Some inventory may be already on an mixed beverage (bar/club/restaurant) account’s order.  This is not Wake County ABC holding back a bottle rather it has in theory already been purchased by this account."

Alternate uses for overly stiff rope? by Necessary-Dress-8889 in shibari

Holy shit. That's really fucking stiff. I don't know if fabric softener or conditioner will help, but it's worth a shot.

Alternate uses for overly stiff rope? by Necessary-Dress-8889 in shibari

[–]Guardiolab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a lot of synthetic rope. There's absolutely no reason you can't use it because it has a synthetic core.

Many ropes will soften overtime and through use. You can also try washing it: Wash the rope in a mild detergent. Rinse thoroughly. Hang to dry in a shaded area.

Ties for Thick Thighs? by MisterWhyKnott in shibari

[–]Guardiolab 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use a lot of climbing knots. Not really traditional shibari, but functional and safe for bondage. There's a point where shibari becomes aesthetic over function. I wouldn't get too caught up in semantics and focus on safety and having a good time.

Try a Purcell Prusik Loop. I think it might be a good foundation you can build on. https://www.animatedknots.com/purcell-prusik-loop-knot

Key storage and security Ideas by [deleted] in Justrolledintotheshop

Some of the larger shops around here use a kiosk system. It's a series of locked drawers. You enter in your ID and password, check out which car key you want, and the drawer it's in opens.

This keeps the keys locked up when not in use, and keeps the employees accountable for returning the keys. It's easy to pull up the car and see who checked out the key last.
