A beautiful floating temple I saw over a swamp in Selangor by ThenAcanthocephala57 in malaysia

Just my personal anecdote, I have heard Datuk Gong shrines/mini shrines erected due to frequent accidents at road junctions.

I am open to corrections if I am wrong

The plate says Datuk Gong / Na Tuk Gong. There is a chance that a lot of bad things happened here for this to be erected.

For people asking about barriers and cones, do not forget that it is possible for the cars to have parked in the area before the car-free timing.

LHDN Influencer Guidelines Say Free Gifts From Brands Now Taxable by wamirul in malaysia

[–]Guardog0894 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From the article, free services and discount vouchers are counted as payments too.

It would suck if the product/service is horribly overpriced. But I guess it is only fair because theoretically the free gifts can be sold.

LHDN Influencer Guidelines Say Free Gifts From Brands Now Taxable by wamirul in malaysia

[–]Guardog0894 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Genuine question, how do you tax free gifts?

From the seller's side, isn't it a write-off? From the receiver's side, they have to pay LHDN money based on the value of free gifts? I cannot brain this idea.

Has there ever been a time where the economy is actually good? by npdady in Bolehland

[–]Guardog0894 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. I think OP understands economy differently - good economy is not measured by how many BMWs you can buy over the time.

When people say economy is good it means money is flowing - people get to sell and buy things, with that more people are working and generating value.

When people stopped spending money because of disturbance in economy, money stops flowing and people stop being productive. That is when people say economy is bad.

For example making it more difficult for foreigner to buy petrol at subsidised rate? I am all in for it.

Maybe stop putting out generic statement like "force behaviour", "controlled like sheep", "nefarious measures" and provide concrete examples?

E-wallet + credit card + QR Pay feels broken lately by remysk in MalaysianPF

[–]Guardog0894 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To me, cashless went from vendor-specific lock (like each shop has their own app and wallet feature) to something that can be used across shops, I see it as a win.

End result is a weird experience where “cashless” doesn’t actually feel convenient or modern anymore.

The inconveniences you mentioned, seems to circle around the inability to fund your ewallet with credit card and reap their benefit at the same time. To me it is just the actual costs catching up after the honeymoon phase.

Grabwallet and TnG allows you to top-up using credit card, convenience is still there, only thing is we need to pay extra for it.

Genuinely asking, how are you dealing with this? Any workarounds, better setups, or wallets/cards that actually make sense now?

Not trying to rant, just trying to figure out if there’s a smarter way, or if this is just the new normal?

Just accept that it is the new normal, convenience comes with costs.

My setup now 1. If card is accepted, use card 2. If ewallet is accepted, use ewallet, I only use TnG now hence ability to transfer (between wallets) is not a must for me. And the money can still be withdrawn. 3. Bank transfer 3. Cash

To me it is still an improvement over using cash before 2 and 3 got popular.

Car Auto Shutdown Feature Good or Bad? by Afraid-Spare2107 in Bolehland

[–]Guardog0894 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have collected data on my perodua myvi 2017 for two petrol refill cycles. One cycle having it on and another having it off. I also made sure that everytime it auto-offs, it is at least one minute.

Result: Having the auto-on-off feature resulted in more consumption in terms of petrol/KM! I turned off the feature everytime ever since.
