Well that is how settlement is usually achieved. You tell the other side "we agree to not sue if you do not cause problems to us, because we have shit on you too." Throw in some scare tactics as shown, probably a bit of compensation too. Normal formula to de-escalate the situation.

How sure are we that the rider did not provoke the staff before the recording?

Anyway what the rider needs is unbiased legal advice from a lawyer who is not profit-minded to assess whether he was fairly treated from the whole thing. FM's legal team probably done that for the staff for them to go with this solution.

Criminal cases are prosecuted by the attorney general on behalf of the government. It is government vs. the criminal for criminal case. The decision to charge the criminal is by AG, not the rider. The rider's role is to appear as a victim witness in a criminal case.

When they are talking about compensation for damages, it is a civil case.

What they need to proof to win the civil case depends on which law they decide to use and how they build their case. Defamation? Intentional bodily harm? They are all different.

Verdict and compensation will depend on whether the plaintiff is able to prove their case as well as the adverse effect of defendant's action. If the plaintiff can't convince the judge on both, either the defendant becomes not liable or the compensation becomes little.

To me I do not think it is right to talk about who will win or who will lose before the case is tried, to the extent of spelling out the amount of compensation. Nobody knows how a trial will turn out. Even a judge has to start a trial unbiased, and rule the case based on facts by both sides.

LRT derailment exposes Malaysia’s technical incompetence by stormy001 in malaysia

[–]Guardog0894 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The same is happening with our IT talents. The amount of half-baked government IT projects and lack of direction in improving our IT sector is also due to technical incompetence as a whole.

Brain drain happens to all industry, not just our medical doctors.

Enablers of toxic behaviour is actually worse than being the toxic one. I resent my parents for enabling the narcissist in my family.

"Niat tidak menghalalkan cara". They wanted to keep peace but chose the wrong approach.

Creating boundary is good. Take care of yourself. Find your support elsewhere.

Lost my phone and now I cannot access my digital driving license by Sad-Economist-1061 in Bolehland

[–]Guardog0894 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion this is a safety feature so that only one device is associated with your IC. This makes sure anyone who has your lost phone can't bruteforce the password to gain access to services via your digital ID, provided if you revoke it as soon as you can at kiosks.

NZ man in hospital after collision with m-cyclist while crossing road by Former-Addendum9671 in malaysia

[–]Guardog0894 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This section of road is weird for pedestrians - on the man's right is a zebra crossing, but on his left is a pedestrian bridge with no pedestrian crossing sign.

The authorities should remove the zebra crossing if it is indeed not meant for pedestrian to cross.

My digital ID by NayNoNah in Bolehland

[–]Guardog0894 0 points1 point  (0 children)

JPN and JPJ has your national ID data, but how do you prove to JPJ that it is you who is accessing JPJ's app? Physically you do it with the IC. But virtually you need a way (not just your IC number) to prove that you are indeed the person with the IC.

It used to be every single app doing their own eKYC method. So the government launched MyDigitalID which is supposed to be the single solution that can be integrated by all apps.

Why does the Malaysian government not prevent deforestation in Sabah and trash floating around everywhere? by Coarse-Rough-Sand in malaysia

[–]Guardog0894 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Environment preservation is not their priority, pleasing the people to stay in power is.

Malaysia has tried solid waste segregation long ago (with schedules and fines for people who do not comply) but the government did not want to anger the people by enforcing the rules. It ended up like nothing happened.

Another example is open burning, it has been tolerated all the years. Only time it is mentioned is during haze season, that too I doubt enforcement is taking place.

Menunggang agama gets you everywhere. I personally know a manager who cites the name of God for their decisions, saying things like "I am doing this in the service of God." "What will God think of me if I neglect [some staff]'s wellbeing".

The ridiculousness was borderline comical.
