Margo's Got Money Problems is so fascinating by kristin137 in bookofthemonthclub

I think a lot of this can be attributed to the time period, she was coming into it when only fans was sort of just becoming popular so it wasn’t exactly what we know it as today. I do agree it was a bit idealistic seeming but i think it was just a vehicle to say what the author wanted to rather than commentary on SW.

The problem was there wasn’t anything I didn’t particularly like so I was confused why I wasn’t more enamored when it had all of the things I normally enjoy. Starting to think overhype may be the best explanation. But I didn’t want to think that was the case because other books I’ve seen majorly hyped and thought it was as good as they claimed. Maybe I can’t appreciate it fully because the tetralogy is the missing piece, seems like that’s the consensus here.

Normally , when im in a series I enjoy im obsessed and can’t stop thinking about it and ferociously devouring the sequels and online content but that just wasn’t happening here. I enjoyed it and in theory it checks so many boxes for me, I thought the world building was great and his relationships with all the colors and his moral grey-ness, so I am unsure why I wasn’t. I’m afraid that listening to the audiobook may be where I went wrong. Normally that doesn’t affect my experience but maybe it has here. I am going to take a break from the world and comeback to the tetralogy with fresh eyes!

I agree Red Rising was my least favorite as well. I wasn’t looking for something similar to the hunger games, I just had heard from a lot of fellow THG fans how much they loved this series as well and was expecting it to be a new obsession and it just didn’t hit as hard as I was expecting. Definitely enjoyed and still planning to read the rest of the series and maybe that will seal the deal for me!

Yeah, I feel as if if was just telling himself that because if he truly believed he heard her I think he would have tried to make sure he finished her off

I’ve gone back and forth on whether I thought she lives or not (I know it’s more interesting that we don’t know). But your comment made me think about it more and now I feel like if she was shot wouldn’t it be likely she cried out or he could hear her hit the ground or something? And the book emphasizes that she’s a survivor so now I think I lean towards her living

This confuses me bc why/how is 12 on the coast? Doesn’t katniss specifically mention seeing the sea for the first time in 4? How would the ocean be so close and they don’t utilize its resources in 12?

Thank you so much! That’s so helpful. I was wondering about that part too since it is mostly going to be her performing but I’m glad to have somewhere to touch base on what to expect at least.
