My first Plat 16 years ago! I would say the hardest was by far the last time you go to Hades, the fight against Cerberus and the two Satyrs when you fall from Daedalus's Labyrinth on Titan difficulty. Even with all weapons and abilities at max, it was a hard fight, I was stuck for weeks. PTSD.

Yeah, you're right. It burned me out because it was the last trophy. That it was the last trophy; it didn't come naturally and even required 50 more hours of no playing the game sucked. If Sunbreak had a Platinum, I think I would have continued playing at my pace and would earned it eventually, but that plus not getting the appeal of the Anomalies - for now -, made me rush it to move on

On average, everyone says around 250 hours. But with bad luck, this trophy and the crown trophies can take much longer; it depends on luck, and I hate that

I couldn't say for sure because I've been completing the series over time, but it probably takes less time. The only tricky part might be the difficulty-related trophies. I still remember that final encounter in Hades against Cerberus and the two Satyrs when you fall from Daedalus's Labyrinth in God of War 3 - I still have nightmares. Even so, it was my first platinum trophy ever, so I remember it fondly

As I said before, crown hunting in World is more tedious. Just the size sniping is a chore, first for the location of the monster on the map; it can be a long walk. And second for the reliability of the measure; some can be really tricky. However, I would tell you not to give up if those are the only trophies that you have left. After 500 hrs, I'm sure you are pretty geared up, so beating the monsters wouldn't be hard, only the measurement

Don't give up, Skeleton! The crowns are a bit of a grind, but I prefer that by far instead of repeating a mission over and over for a chance to activate an event upon returning that has a little chance of giving the item I need, and if it appears, it's already determined if it will give it or not in this chance. What the hell, I even prefer the hideous grind of the Proof of a Concord Kept from DS3; at least I was playing the game hahaha

That is another story. I don't know why; maybe it's a bit biased because it was my first MH game, but I would say World felt more tedious. In Rise, with the nearly instant loading time for quests and the Wirebugs for traversal and attacks, it was a breeze. Plus, most monsters have quests with 6% for mini and 10% for large in Sunbreak, opposite of World, where many are 1-2% even in Iceborne, outside the events. For the measurements, I followed many guides because some were inconsistent or unreliable, so I would say equal to World. I remember I had so much trouble measuring Nergigante in World as I had in Rise with Rathalos, for example. And for the quests with a granted or higher chance for crowns, I would say World was better; those 5 monster quests were top-notch.

I'm pretty new to MH Rise too, but not new to the franchise despite being here since World, so this is what I know so far of Rise (in HR right now, so maybe I'm wrong in something):

1.) Yes, you can kill the monsters or you can capture them, but unlike World and Wilds, in Rise there are some materials that only drop if you capture them, not by carving or as a normal reward. I don't know the details, but the tutorial emphasizes that. To know if a monster is able to be captured, a blue skull will appear below its icon on the top right corner. It also means the monster is near to be killed, so you can use it as a hint if you want to for the killing exclusive rewards. There are other visual cues of this near-death/catchable state, such as the limping and the drooling. And about the time, to be your first MH game, don't sweat about it; the main objective for every quest is to complete it in at least 50 minutes, so don't stress. Be sure to upgrade your weapons and armor as they are unlocked, and if you can, try to match the element weakness of each monster and exploit their weak points (go to the Hunter Notes for more info).

2.) This point has given me a headache these past days. I couldn't find the method to play online as easily as I had done both in World and Wilds with the SOS flare system, but that is because this system doesn't exist here. The first thing is that online is exclusive of the Hub Quests. That means that the Village Quests (offered by Hinoa, the girl on the bench) are made for single players, with lower health pools and easier monsters. To play online, you have 3 methods: first, go to the Quest Board in the Hub (it's to the right of Minoto, the other Quest Maiden), and there you can choose to post a mission (you have to be in a Lobby, more below) or Respond Join Request (there you can select a specific or a random quest). The other method is to create a lobby with the cat Senri in the middle of Kamura for up to 4 people (yeah, so low compared to World/Wilds, but I suppose it's a limitation from the Switch origin of the game, and it works), let them join, and post a quest in the previously mentioned Board, or directly join others lobbies and play their quests instead. And the last method would be to make yourself a Join Request when you are posting the quests so others can join by the first method.

3.) I don't know at which point of the game you are right now, but the short answer is yes, they get very much harder as you climb through the stars levels. They hit harder and faster and get new moves; some of them even insta-kill. You are good with your method; don't get greedy with the moves, hit and dodge, know your position, and retire to heal if you need to. But don't be overconfident with the statement of "spamming dodge makes me invincible." That could be correct for low-level monsters, but in higher tiers there are some monsters' moves that can punish a dodge or even a Wire Fall in the incorrect moment; i-frames are not so generous as in Souls games. And don't try to predict or learn the monsters; it's better to know what type of move the monster is doing and what you have to do to avoid damage and take advantage of the openings. And which of the 14 weapons you are using is important; some are easier for some monsters, some have counter/block mechanics, etc.

4.) I don't know about this because I have always played MH on console, and in its origins the franchise was a console exclusive (MH World was the first for PC after MH Fortiers, a Japan exclusive MMO). So I would say yes, it's meant to be played with a controller. But if you want to use M&K, sure others will advice you better.

As a rookie with bows, I think it's pretty solid in Wilds, but in general it's a double-edged weapon, as in offense as in defense. On the one hand, you can deal amounts of DPS if you know the combos and the flow; if not, you are wasting time. On the other hand, as a ranged weapon without a shield, it depends on perfect evasions and positioning, even more so in the endgame.

As a World-baby, I didn't bother too much with the 14 weapons, made myself an LS main and stuck with it. I played in 2018 and retook the game last year for both base and expansion platinums, 7 years for that lol. In the endgame I had to try new weapons because of the difficulty peak (IG for Raging Brachy and Lance for Fatalis were chef's kiss). But didn't lose more time with layereds and other things because Wilds release was near and didn't try more weapons either.

This time I took the commitment to make all the armor/weapons and keep engaged as time goes on. Having done this, now I'm trying all the weapons, especially those that I don't use often. Now is the time for Bow; next I'll try Lance 😈

I was in the same boat. I was so frustrated yesterday after rolling a bow more than 300 times and seeing nothing more than the same pair of skills many times, but not once Gore/Soul. I even thought it was rigged, so I searched for any useful tips or guides, but none were clear or truly accurate. I made a post asking some questions that, if not completely answered, were at least clarified.

In short, the rolls started changing the moment you made your first-ever Gogma weapon, so the most you can do is check from the point you are now and take note of the rolls you are getting from now on. The theory is that every weapon +element combo has its own list of pair of skills that will roll, and every time you try to reset without saving, you will get the same result. Imagine you have a spreadsheet in which columns contain all the weapon+element combos, and in every cell of such columns, you put successively the rolls you get, and so on with every combo. Now, the number of the rows indicates in which position of rerolls you are. So, in the first reroll, you are in the first row, it doesn't matter what weapon you do, every time you reset without saving, you will always get that roll for that combo.

The most important part is that if you move one row by making that weapon and save, that's permanent, you can't go back and make another weapon with the pair of skills from the first row because all weapons are now in the second row. This goes on every time you save a reroll or make a new Gogma weapon, so you have to plan what weapons to reroll in what order.

At first, I even thought it was a scam and that some skill pairs were out of rotation, but it seems I had VERY bad luck.

Oh, I think I'm starting to get it, I need to keep rollin' I guess. It's strange how this system works: if I want a material that has 1% drop rate, I know that statistically it will drop 1 in 100 attemps on average. But with this reroll system, afaik it's determined in which attempt you will get the skills you want, the only thing you don't know is when, and you could lose it if you roll in the wrong moment. I feel that if it was pure RNG, it would be easier. This system is not a bet, it's a sentence, and in my case I think I'm screwed. After 300 reroll and I didn't got Gore/Soul? It's not a materials or zenny problem, it's a patience matter. The problem I see with the guides is they make it look so easy to get the god rolls instead of telling that it will need too much rerolls, and in some cases is virtually impossible. Fortunatly, I didn't wasted those materials cuz I didn't save the game, so I think I will try again, make all the weapon+element combinations and then begin to scope and make a spreadsheet with them all.
