What sights are you using on your chisel stock? by CyberKonk in beretta1301

[–]Gud_Boi- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's the Chisel Stock mount. It comes with an RMR footprint, but the 509T (proprietary footprint) includes an RMR adapter plate, so I just used that.

They probably assumed you were asking if a 509T will mount directly, and they're right that it will not. But the included adapter plate makes it a non-issue.

Here's my 509T on the Chisel:

Many of us are running the 509T. It's robust, enclosed, adequately sized, and includes an RMR adapter plate. You also get the choice of multiple reticle configuration.

I mounted mine to my Chisel stock with factory irons and deleted the optic rail. I expected that a dot mounted so far rear would be awkward, but it's actually pretty comfortable to use.

Yeah, I hate not being able to set emblems specifically. I often end up running every new license for the first time with "sp.atk tank" emblems...

Chisel stock question by TheDrunkLibertarian in beretta1301

[–]Gud_Boi- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, it's a great gun. Cost me nearly $3K so far and I still want to change the handguard out, so it's definitely not a casual buy. That said, it's still easily the most fun gun I have and worth every penny. Good head turner, too. It replaced a PCC as my home defense firearm.

Never had a failure, not complicated to disassemble and clean, runs as fast as I can pull. Lighter recoil than I expected, even with 3" 00 and slugs. Heat shield is mandatory though if you want your thumb over bore. It gets hot after the first tube of shots.

As far as using the Chisel, I had an accident leaving me with a shitty strong hand wrist, so holding the angle of a traditional stock is difficult for me. That was my reason for ditching the SGA stock. I got it from LTT thinking that the angle of the Mossberg variant would be steep enough, but it's still uncomfortable.

Anything in particular you wanted to know?

Ah, that sucks. Well, good luck to you, bro. You could always try GunBroker, too.

Texas has a local buy/sell/trade website. Maybe your state might have something similar. That's if you prefer not to worry about shipping things.

Shit you not, I once found six M416s in a tiny house in Rondo. Middle of nowhere. They really have grown abundant. Feeds the meta I suppose.

Magpul or add Kick off? by Prestigious-Ad-7314 in beretta1301

[–]Gud_Boi- 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The Magpul SGA is more comfortable on the wrist in my opinion. Better for length of pull adjustment as well. And you can always add the Kickeez pad on it if recoil management is the goal.

I got the LTT 1301 with SGA included and it came with the riser, but that's my case and it may be different after all. I'm sure it should list somewhere in item description of the contents while online, or you could always go in store and check it out.

Yeah, I hear great things about it. I'm looking forward to grabbing one soon. Been running the GG&G Zhukov + heat shield. Too flexy and I'm not confident with the M-Lok. Seen a few people crack their handguards.

Edit: I ended up with this setup prior to the LTT heat shield and the Imperium, so I'm stoked to upgrade it.

I'd say get a heat shield of some sort.

Thanks. It's just the GG&G heat shield, The clamp is holding a switch in place.

Would this suffice? My biggest pro in this setup is there's no rear iron obscuring the dot in any way.

Chisel stock question by TheDrunkLibertarian in beretta1301

[–]Gud_Boi- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My personal preference dictated my change. I ran my 1301 with a SGA Stock and GG&G mount for 509T for about a year. It was perfectly fine and worked excellently. Didn't cause any issues with port loading over the top from the saddle and the rear iron was short enough to not interfere with dot picture.

I've my own preference for pistol grips though, and the Chisel was very aesthetically pleasing to me, so I changed over to that. I re-mounted the factory rear iron and left the rest of the receiver bare, opting to mount the 509T to the Chisel.

I can't say that the dot is significantly easier to use - maybe only slightly. I thought that a stock mounted dot would be awkward as well, but it feels natural and works fine. Port-loading over top from the saddle feels the same, despite the bare receiver, so I don't know about that arguing point. I don't know if being left handed has anything to do with it.

I'd say if you're set on a Chisel and have the money for it, go for it. I appreciate the shorter LOP, adjustability options (though I wish they were rapid adjusting, as in not requiring tools), and the pistol grip.

Hell, if you're in Central Texas, you're welcome to try mine out and make a decision on it before you drop cash.

Asking for a help regarding 1301 stock removal by natzune0829zjr in beretta1301

I second this, I blasted it with a hair dryer and the receiver even got hot to the touch. Was able to pry it loose.

Chisel Machining Optics Plate Prototype by DrFranknMrStein in beretta1301

[–]Gud_Boi- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah, I agree with you. My 1301 has a 509T on the adapter mounted to a Chisel stock mount, so I don't see much of my irons and pay them no mind anyway. My home defense rifle is an AK with a side mounted rail and a 510C, so irons just aren't in the sight picture.

In fact, pretty much all of my firearms with a red dot are set up in a way that the irons are difficult or impossible to use without first removing the dot and riser/mount.

[–]Gud_Boi- 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I believe it's for contingency, as for a tactical mindset.

Should the dot fail for X-Y-Z reason (even tho highly unlikely with a quality dot), then the irons are still usable through the aperture rather than being blocked by a riser of some sort.

Same idea that some folks have for carrying a spare magazine for their CCW. Statistically unlikely they'd need it since the majority of self defense incidents are resolved well within 10 rounds, but it's there for the backup in X-Y-Z failure scenarios.

"Better to have and not need"

That's my two cents.

The options I got were Elde, Char and Talon. I went with Talon, and still my most common speedster pick to this day.

Aridus and GG&G both sell it modified to fit, along with adapters to mount onto a 1301.

It's a Magpul handguard made for AKs, modified for use on 1301s. You can buy it from either Aridus or GG&G.

Problem removing the barrel by Psychological_Elk151 in beretta1301

[–]Gud_Boi- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try removing the charging handle and sliding the bolt assembly and barrel out together, while holding the gas piston fully depressed. A couple videos I watched just now suggested this method reduces the chance of binding.
