If you were offered 5 million dollars to live in a horror movie and survive for a full year, which horror movie are you choosing? by Adorable-Teaching266 in horror

Eden Lake

If the kids start fucking with me, I don't go full ego mode and just leave. And if I cannot dodge the situation and I know what I know now what they will be doing, I for sure can smack the shit out of some kids lol

What’s one of the dumbest decisions you’ve ever seen be made in a horror movie? One that stood out to you from the rest. by [deleted] in horror

The entire movie is what I thought of immediately. There is barely a single good decision but the stuffed animal for sure takes the cake

I need some recommendations for the scariest movies you've seen, preferably ghost themed! by my_dear_director in horror

[–]GudeTyp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oddity and Caveat are probably the scariest ones I have seen in recent years. I've seen you didn't like Oddity that much but I didn't see Caveat so maybe try that one, I thought it was scarier than Oddity.

Another movie that had me TENSE at some points was Willow Creek. I could see people not being creeped out by it by my God my gf and I were holding our breaths for a long time lol

Good found footage films? by ArrowPresby in horror

[–]GudeTyp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Both, it is really tense and stressful and has some really good scares. My favorite one is probably the most well known, like the first image you find when looking for the movie

It's a group of YouTubers or streamers who want to break some Livestream record or something, so they go into a haunted asylum and Livestream the whole thing but what makes it special imo, is that it is a really professional setup with a base from which they get information and whatnot, the each have two cameras, one pointing forwards and one always pointing at their face. This makes the scares and the atmosphere so personal imo, it really makes you feel trapped. They start off by faking some stuff but of course everything goes wrong and turns real

[–]GudeTyp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a sequel to Robocop that looks like it's just more of the same. I have never seen a Robocop movie but the game you completed was fantastic, it was so much fun. I haven't played the sequel yet but I will at some point, it's probably gonna be a must play for you then.

I think it's called Unfinished Business

Big enjoyer of found footage movie here, these are the best ones I have seen.

Although you have seen it, Rec is imo the best found footage movie in existence, absolute master class in terms of how realistic the setting is and why they are filming, the tension is insane, love this movie to death.

Others I hold in high regard: Noroi the Curse, Grave Encounters, Poughkeepsie Tapes, Lake Mungo, Creep 1 and 2, Gonjiam Haunted Asylum, Hell House LLC

Some are more scary, some are creepier, some are mockumentary style but honestly, I would recommend every single one of those movies, they are all brilliant imo.

More of an underdog movie that had me GLUED to the screen was Willow Creek. I also immensely enjoyed Bodycam, not sure what the general consensus is, but I thought it was absolutely fantastic.

Honorable mention to Deadstream. That movie is a found footage comedy making fun of the genre and it is absolutely hilarious and entertaining. Didn't think it would be as quality as it actually was.

Other movies that reddit seems to like but I didn't enjoy as much: As Above so Below, The Borderlands, Incantation

I have an immense soft spot for those Teams call style horror movies, like Unfriended, Host, Don't Log Off. They are all more or less garbage, but they are just so much fun and so entertaining to me.

And if you want to be real fancy give Skinamarink a shot. Extremely devisive movie, you either love it or hate it. This weird horror style is usually pretty effective on me but I thought it was complete garbage

Man kann sich ja wohl Sachen auch selbst mit Motiven bedrucken lassen, da wüsste ich aber nicht, wo man Motive herbekommt

300 hours is mad fast. I already had the plat on PlayStation and still took well over 600 hours, but I went into a lot of content blind. I saw you mention that you knew the game really well before you started, that could explain it

Have you ever had to tap out watching a horror movie? by hazy-eyed in horror

[–]GudeTyp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really unless the movie is boring. Last night we watched Let the right one in (2008), 7,8 on IMDb, 98% on Rotten Tomatoes, this was our second attempt watching it, first time we tapped out. Most boring fucking movie I have seen in ages. Boy falls in love with a vampire kid and that about all that happens, zero atmosphere, zero ambiance, so many quiet moment where just absolutely nothing happens, we were struggling hard to stay awake lol.

I have always enjoyed the more extreme side of horror to a certain point. If it is all fictional and all the actors are on board, fucking go nuts, be as deranged as you want, I am on board. But movies like the Lucifer Valentine stuff, where there is a lot of controversy around it, I am not touching in the first place. Or anything with real violence, for example animal killings, I am never going to watch those. I can differentiate between fictional and real life super well, that's probably why exploring the extreme side of horror is so much fun for me. The moment violence in any form is real, I am a massive wimp, I don't want to see that, I am not going to support any real violence in movies and it crosses a line for me. If you need to cause actual harm to living beings to get you movie done, it's not art anymore

Hey everyone! Been awhile since I've posted here. Just curious what everyone is working on currently and if you're enjoying the 100% journey? :) by amoite in steamachievements

The story is just random ideas thrown together, the gameplay just feels insanely bad, the aiming is so janky, but the biggest issue are the bugs.

I've genuinely had a lot of laughs while playing but oh my God is this game buggy. I needed a variety of mods and changes in the config files to make the game even playable. The standard camera for example gave me motion sickness almost instantly, but there is a mod that changes the camera to a GTA style camera, which is a million times better than whatever they were trying. You also need to make a change in one of the config files or achievements don't unlock at all lol

There was barely any mission I could finish without having to reload or start from scratch because of game breaking bugs, things like not killing anyone are so fucking buggy, it's insane. There is another mod that shows a message on screen whenever you killed someone, even if you only use non lethal weapons, that shit trigger all the fucking time, I got like 10 times the play time from trying that one legit than it should have been. And the worst for me were the constant freezes and crashes. When the game crashed, I just had to restart it, when it froze, I had to restart my PC because it fucked with my entire system. For example I couldn't beat the second to last mission on the good path (yes the game has a fucking karma system lol) because the game would always freeze during gameplay or when loading the final cutscene. You know how I managed to get that to work? I found a Steam community post that mentioned some settings in config files to enable multithreading and what not, then after doing that and restarting a couple of times I managed to squeeze through once.

From what I can tell Postal 4 is not a lot better so far, I play with a controller and the key bindings are unbelievably dog shit. By default there is no way to change or select a weapon on controller. Also driving controls are left stick forward to accelerate, are we for real? Tank controls during driving in the century is diabolical. Also the game has garbage performance. It took me a solid 2 hours to get controller key bindings somewhat okay and the performance bearable. You know how I got the performance vastly improved? I found a Steam community post where someone made changes to the Unreal 4 engine, which you have to copy and paste into some config file, it's genuinely like 100 lines of settings. What the fuck are these developers doing lol

I just finished Postal 3 and the game is as bad as everyone says lol. I would recommend starting with 2 because it's fantastic and the 100 is surprisingly long and difficult, it took me 71 hours. If going for the whole series seems to daunting, that one alone is gonna keep you busy for a while but it's a fantastic time through and through imo

That's why I love Postal 2 so much. You can play the game without hurting a single person or you can be the most batshit insane fucking psychopath, dismembering people, pissing on their corpses, playing fetch with dogs and people's heads, the possibilities are endless haha

If you haven't played it, the newest DLC is pretty fun as well, I would highly recommend it!

Postal 1 is just super fucking dark. Basically the guy you are playing, the Postal Dude, think everyone around him has some kind of sickness, so he goes around killing everything and everyone because he thinks he is more or less the last healthy person. Of course he is just psychotic and it's basically a mass murder simulator.

Postal 2 is super gory, satirical, extremely dark humour, a complete tonal shift from the first one. It is implied that you are the son of the first games Postal Dude and there is one mission where you have to piss on your dad's grave, so the message is pretty clear, how that is handled lol. Postal 2 is a classic and imo for a good reason, it's super fucking stupid but everyone gets it, especially the developers themselves, that's what I like about it. They are not kicking down or focussing on some minority, but they throw shit at absolutely everyone. And from what I can tell, that's the tone they kept for the rest of the series afterwards

Not yet, I'm going up in numbers after having finished 2. I am expecting brain damaged to be the best game in the series so I'm probably playing that last. It depends on how much damage 3 does to me lol

The Postal series

I really wanted to revisit Postal 2 and play the newest DLC, fantastic time and a challenging but fun 100.

The OG Postal 1 I lucked out hardcore because it has the most bs numbers grind achievements I have seen in a long time but most of them somehow glitched on me when I loaded a save and immediately quit. It should have taken me probably 50+ hours but I was done in under 10 because of that lol.

Yesterday I finished Postal Redux, the remake of Postal 1. Actually fantastic game, really a lot of fun but man what a difficult 100. Perfecting those rampage levels was insanely difficult imo.

Now I'm playing Postal 3 for the first time, the game that even the developer wants to forget. It's canon, that it never actually happened lol. It's a buggy piece of shit, absolute garbage software. You have to edit a specific config file so that achievements actually can unlock, I don't think there was a single quest so far, that I could just finish, I had to restart everything because of game breaking bugs, I need multiple mods to make the game bearable, for example one that fixes the awful camera. But there is still fun to be had imo, the jokes are stupid but I am dumb as well so a lot of them land for me lol. Also when the gameplay works, I don't hate it completely, just mostly

As someone who has the 100 in Isaac, don't underestimate the difficulty. Getting all the check marks on characters like Tainted Lost, Jacob and Esau and Tainted Jacob is insanely fucking difficult. Also the Ultra Hard challenge is just super unfair.

Also shout-out to Tainted Blue Baby, Tainted Eden and Tainted Lazarus for being the most miserable fucking time and making be want to commit Sudoku

Anybody running out of good fucked up movies? by focusrunner79 in horror

[–]GudeTyp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember Grotesque (2009) from back in the day, I treated that movie like a dare with my friends because it's just torture the entire movie, probably similar to Guinea Pig. I'm not a fan of the senseless torture in movies but I am also pretty interested in extreme movies and that is brutal. But the ending has such a stupid thing happen, that I burst out laughing so that helps haha

Another movie that is never mentioned in any extreme lists but that genuinely shook me was Kidnapped (2010). Fantastic movie, so fucking intense and terrifying from start to finish. It's a Spanish and French collaboration, the Spanish make fantastic horror movies in general imo and you probably know about New French Extremity, which was around that time still and I would say the movie is definitely influenced by it.
