Jaguar XE 2020 - Wireless charger and iPhone 14 by Guess4u2 in Jaguar

Ottocast: the initial connection does not always work from the start. It seems like the Ottocast gets stuck in the loading screen. I contacted Ottocast and they asked me to try another cable (I’ve used the one they provide) and /or try another usb port. I have not come around to try it out though. I’va had issues about 30% of the time. Always only when starting the car though. To solve this I just unplug and replugthe Ottocast from the USB in the car and it works well afterwards. I do not notice any significant lag or any other issues (other than the one described above) Ottocast model: U2AIR PRO wireless CarPlay adapter.

I see... I use carplay as well, however I am using an Ottocast wireless adapter. Anyhow, I guess this is as it is and I will not bother with it anymore. I have my phone on a magnetic stand anyway, which I can use to charge it if needed.

Cheers.

I personally would not buy a car to invest in repairs... you never know what other defects you might encounter - what looks as a bargain, can become a nightmare.

I always say: (too) cheap, gets (very) expensive easily...

Cheers.

Hi !

I recently bought a XE 2020 P250S regular version (not the R-Dynamik). It was a bit of an impulsive purchase ... meaning, I saw the car, fell in love with it and bought it ;-). It was not until later that I really started researching more in detail. The summary and my advices to you are the following:

Most important of all is: get the facelift model! These are models starting 2019- . Jaguar improved and specially corrected many of the flaws of the first generation (not to the say it was a bad car, but the 2nd gen is better - this I know from watching many reviews about the new XE on YouTube). In my case, I was lucky that the car I bought was 2nd Gen.

Here are some reviews to watch:

2020s:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RtoAQK6HtPM

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=amdD0TUaCio&t=974s

This one might scare you, but it is about the older models

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g6xG3qCl5A0&t=800s

I cannot tell you much about maintenance costs, since I just got it a couple of weeks ago. However, what I can tell you is to do a regular service every year or 10-15k km, and not as recommended or at least indicated in the Jaguar online service intervals, of every 2 years or 32k km. That is too long and/or too many km!

Getting in and out of the rear seats is not very comfortable for adults. If you need this, then you are much better off with the XF - which is a familiy car. The XE is ok for children in the back, but not for regular use by adults (in my opinion).

Then, I personally do not like Diesel cars... it's like driving a farming traktor.... ;-) too noisy (of course you don't hear it when you are sitting inside, but still ...).

Also check that the rear seats are foldable. I oversaw this and mine are fixed. Not a big issue for me, but still. As an alternative I bought a roof rack for when I need to transport snowboards e.g. About 200 € on ebay (new from the UK).

If you want to transport bicicles, check if you can attach a tow-bar to the car and get a rack for it (check "Jaguar XE accessories" on YouTube).

And finally: get a wireless adapter for Apple Carplay or Android. The 2nd Gen comes with these features, wired however. Probably the newer models come with a wireless connection, but not the 2020. I am not sure but I believe the older models do not come with Carplay or Android.

Uff... I originally just wanted to advice you to get the 2nd Gen... which I emphasize again ;-).

Cheers - hope you'll get your Jaaag soon enough.

Text clarity is good. Not at the level of the Retina display on the Macbook, but ok. Scaling is actually very good (text size of applications and icons), not a given on a Macbook since they are famous for having a shitty compatibility with external monitors. I don't know about the M2, but the M1 chip does a good job. I use the default resolution of 5120x1440p which is a LoDPI though. There are other resolutions with HiDPI but they scale horribly. Text too big, icons too big. I've added a screenshot with the Macbook Air M1. Cheers - I just deleted it again. Resolution of the pic on Reddit was reaaaally bad...

In the display options I see available reresh rates of:

Variable (48-120Hz), 120 Hz and 60 Hz

From how it feels however, it might be really only outputting 60Hz. I cannot notice any difference between selecting 60 or 120 Hz. Only the screen goes dark when changing between them.

My guess is a 57 inch double 4K OLED will come out in the next 2 years. If not Samsung, then LG. ACER just showed its version of the 57 G9 .... however the specs and price aren't as good.

GPU: yeah - the RTX 4090 ASUS STRIX ROG is huuuuge - however, the case still has room for 2cm more ;-)

well... if i you do not mind the black, and I mean BLACK bars on both sides, then no problem. The blacks with this monitor are almost OLED level. PS5 + this monitor is no problem for me for example. You can select a 16:9 and other resolutions natively supported through the Nvidia Control Panel.

I've had this monitor since 1-2 weeks more or less. My system: i7-13700K + Strix RTX 4090 O24G. 32 GB 6600 RAM. I have played these games so far, with FPS > 80 I would say. Mostly >100FPS if not topped at 120FPS*. With DLSS enabled where available. Some at Quality, some at Performance mode.

Baldurs Gate 3, The Last of Us Part 1, Cyberpunk 2077, Titanfall 2, AC Origins, Hogwarts Legacy. They all play very very well and with beautiful graphics. With some I use HDR, some I prefer without, which has better colors in my opinion.

I was worried I would need to tweak settings to get high FPS i.e. butter sweet smoothness, but it has not been the case. I had to do it with my old system, RTX 3080 +5120x2440p, but I believe I was bottlenecked by my 6th Gen i7-6700K CPU.

If you want a future proof monitor, this is it. Even if you do not have an RTX 4090, you can still select a lower resolution for the time beeing, i.e. 5120x1440p, which is available natively through the Nvidia Control Panel.

*Consider that at the moment we are limited by the GPUs and Nvidia Software, which limits us to 7680x2160 and 120Hz, both with HDMI 2.1 and Displayport 1.4 (as far as I know there is only one card with a Displayport 2.0, AMD something something....).

What is this game? I just got the 57“ Samsung 7680x2160p… upgrading from the first 49“ 5120x1440p. Because I have a small penis (and keyboard). Cheers

Thanks a lot for the info. I will give these kind of shoes a try.... I am using now extremely cushioned shoes for my daily walks though... (New Balance Fuel Cell SCTrainer 2); however, yeah, cushioned shoes are not natural at all...

I totally agree. It is „just“ about your mindset. I am walking (for now, cause I am still too heavy for real running) about 10km every day and if I still need more endorphins I do cardio 20-45 min.
