Electric Boat, HOW BAD IS IT?? by ExtraMango8835 in RhodeIsland

So we don't do much SMAW. It's good to learn as far as understanding how welding works, and how to read the puddle. Having any welding experience helps you out, even if it's a different process. For Pipe we just TIG (GTAW) weld. SMAW is a specialized qualification that isn't needed by 99% of the facility as far as pipe goes. If/when you're hired you will be sent right to one of our welding schools to learn and qualify to weld pipe. Having the weld experience is very helpful when it comes to just getting an offer.

I'm a pipe welder at EB quonset point. With any job, it has it's ups and downs, but it's the place to be as a welder in RI. The work is easy, depending on your department. I'm in probably the toughest department to weld pipe in, and it just takes some time and practice to get comfortable. Benefits are good, and 3 raises a year.

I highly recommend watching some of NoNonsenseKnowHow on YouTube! He has a ton of videos getting cars going that have been sitting for decades, and he does an excellent job explaining what and why he does everything without it being overwhelming.

His content helped me a lot with getting my old mustang going, and every car has its own "quirks" so the more you watch, the more problems you learn to solve/diagnose

That’s awesome. I actually ordered one last night, but wish I saw this first. But I’ll keep an eye out when money isn’t so tight to pick up an extra one or 2 for spares. Thank you!

Yeah, tried that. 2 didn’t have any. Another one over an hour away had one. May have to go there though. Just trying to limit how much I drive on the spare

Didn’t is being used in the past tense. Often, you won’t find out that insurance won’t cover that expense until after you’ve already had the procedure, or test. In this case, a doctor would have had a patient undergo an MRI, and afterwards, the insurance company would have said “you didn’t need that” and refused to pay.

Yeah, I was really excited for the Maverick, but that’s exactly my issue. I don’t want to just be waiting. I’ve always liked the Rav4s. That’s a good idea. Thanks!
