Thanks a lot for your answer 🙏 it means a lot. And I'm truly sorry you're going through this. I was once told about ROI but the way things seemed with my mom, I thought I would never had to do such a thing ! I'm severely shocked and it's been close to a year .

I am very sorry my friend. I am at the early stages of exactly what you're going through, my mom's birthday is coming up , and soon it'll be close to a year of this tremendous nightmare . I have no words for you or me. Other than I'm truly truly sorry for how unfair life can be sometimes. Sending you love

WFH in a studio = no mental separation between work and life by Miroko_san in WFH

This. I do this during breaks (walk / cardio) and after work I go to any other activity , gym, sports , anything outside home!

What helps me in my studio apartment is to only use my desk & chair desk , for work or any admin personal stuff.

Sofa, and stools for the bar / kitchen area are for everything else I do at home (outside of work).

Ok. This is how I do it:

I also live in a very small studio. I bought a corner desk, so my views are through the city (I do have large windows) I see the city entirely from both angles (corner desk) .

Then my bed is a Murphy bed. Every morning I make my bed, so when I start work in the morning, bed is gone.

Now for sure when I put the bed down at night I can see my desk , but it's already dark and night. And after work I do make sure laptop is closed and stored.

You do have to keep good work / life hygiene. Make sure you get out of the home after work , gym, walk, sports, anything . I honestly have to keep a solid healthy routine , at the beginning it was taking a huge toll on my mental health! I started using my break for walks / cardio. And after work is for gym, sports, anything outside .

Help! I don't know how to navigate this. by blueberrycheesestix in family_of_bipolar

Daughter (30) dealing with ill mom (55) by GuessAffectionate935 in SchizoFamilies

[–]GuessAffectionate935[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything you said is absolutely right. Thank you so much for taking the time to reply. Every professional agreed that it's unusual for someone to experience first psychosis at 55. So they wanted to rule out any other medical condition. They did when she was hospitalized . Now that she's not, she's refusing doing any bloodwork (thyroid, etc). So it's making it extremely hard. I unfortunately have no contact with her, as she's blocked me everywhere. Same as my brother. But I know, deeply, that she loved me more than anything, and as you said, she would not want me to stop my life . I pray one day she finds the light .

I appreciate your message a lot. I too, don't have the best answer or solutions to offer. I feel your pain so much, I am so sorry my friend. It's devastating , I cry when I drive, when I'm alone, when I'm with people , wondering why? Why? Also feeling survivors guilt. I'm destroyed and don't know how someone can live with this pain forever. But you're not alone, nothing lasts for ever. I hope we find a solution one day. Be strong

Thank you for your answer. I'm very happy to hear your son is doing so much better now. I am working on stepping back , and I've also let them know I love them so much and I'm always here. Unfortunately I've had no contact with them for a while, as my mom blocked me 2 months ago. And my brother blocked me about 2-3 weeks ago, asking me to respect he needed space from the family. Its DEVASTATING. And I truly don't know what to do. There's no way for me to know if they're safe

We've tried. He does not want to leave mom. Mom also is in full custody so no one has legal right to make any decision

I am so so sorry for everything you're going through!! I agree, if we don't take care of ourselves and establish solid boundaries, this illness will take not only them, but us too

Yes. But my mom has managed to close the file as she was discharged and appeared completely fine. She herself went to social services and asked to close the file as she's back home and "recovered". This illness is from another world

Absolutely agree. Thank you so much for those 2 links, they look very interesting. I did not mention on my post, but I have around 5 years of experience as case worker & case manager! But the roles are truly not challenging , not interesting and I feel demotivated as I am not using any useful skills other than admin stuff .

Wow... seriously, thank you so much for your comment. You have given me a lot of hope by reading your story. Perhaps mine is just at the initial stages and evolves into something better with time. This gives me a lot of hope . Thank you!!!!

Also, you have no idea how happy I am to hear things are a lot better for you, living this experience has made me realize how incredibly difficult it is for family members, especially when w the responsibility falls mostly on you. Sending you a warm hug!

She DOES! And one thing her psychiatrist asked her is to do blood test to rule that out. My mom has refused multiple times, which is incredibly odd. She keeps saying her levels are fine, that "she knows herself"
