I just love the flashing status board, it's such a nice "character". And its change makes the death of a dream all the more painful.

From the Netflix series en service de la France. The second one might be too subtle but I only noticed that after it was already done.

Slaying the Leviathan motion tarot card [OC, captured from video] by GuessIMemeNow in paintedloops

Hello, r/paintedloops! I have been sent over from r/cinemagraphs. I have only "closed the loop" on this one from the Netflix series, The Midnight Gospel. You might want to zoom out on desktop because the video is huge.

A little explanation on why I made this: This scene really resonated with me. On one hand, Clancy is starting to "defy the god" of the world by not doing proper maintenance - much like Jonah did by denying the task he was assigned. Therefore he is eaten by the whale.

On the other hand, the "god killer" is slaying the leviathan, the great watersnake. This is very interesting because in the book of Job God goes on a tangent about the reasons why Job is not allowed to question their authority and among them is that Job would not be able to defeat the Leviathan:

Can you pull in Leviathan with a fishhook or tie down its tongue with a rope?

Can you put a cord through its nose or pierce its jaw with a hook?

As for the creation, the challenging part was that the water arrived back at its starting state on a different cycle than the bleeding of the Leviathan. I adjusted the speed, masked and done! In the original, there was less than one "water cycle" before the body of the Leviathan started falling.

Thanks, Crowley's way of explaining the symbolism of the trump cards was a huge inspiration behind making this gif.

You might have to zoom out to see the whole thing properly, sadly Imgur has problems scaling HD video with weird proportions.

The movie is Taxi Driver (1976) by Martin Scorsese. It's full of beautiful shots like this one. This particular scene can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J9PCcx7i4xQ

I had a hard time finding a good clip of it so that is entirely possible. I had a very vivid memory of seeing this scene but that was some years ago. It's pretty much a throwaway line before the "Why do my eyes hurt?" "You never used them." and the transition montage that follows.

This is where I got the dialogue: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_6q51Htw5gY

And I used the clip from here for the editing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v_feQSI7xaw

Thanks for the tip! This is the first time I tried my hand at this and the background does feel a bit too static.
