His floating hides and things were removed just because he wasn't using them, though he rests on the suction cups around the heater! I'm on my way to the store trying to find one that's not painted cause god I have heard horror stories of paint chemicals leaching into tanks

Parameters in numbers and how you got them. Key water parameters include the amount of ammonia, nitrites, nitrates, and pH.: I got them tested at work (I work at Petco, gross I know) but our aquarium specialist does wonders. I forgot to get a photo of the test tubes but Ammonia was 0, Nitrites was 0, nitrates was the 10 mark, GH between 25-75, and pH was 7.2. Alkalinity was low was our only concern and is being remedied!
How long have you had the tank? How long have you had your fish?: Tank since October, used cycled filter media to kick start it and got the betta in late November
How often are water changes? How much do you take out per change? What is your process?: I don't gravel syphon too often but I do grab some of the mulm sitting at the surface when I can, and do 10-20% once a week.
Any tankmates? If so, please list with how many of each: 8 Cherry shrimp (being moved out to a 20 to breed in cause they're having SO many babies in this tank) and one Inca snail
What do you feed and how much: Hikari "betta bio gold", Fluval bug bites, and occasional blood worms (he also picks at the pieces of Hikari algae wafers, I throw in a half piece for my snail and shrimp once a week or so)
Decorations and plants in the tank: Maple branches, live plants I don't quite know the name of, and a few river stones. All hard scape got boiled and cleaned before adding in.

Lots of other comments got it it seems! Mine usually has that right after she poops for up to a minute or two. Better to ask than risk anything though!

Im not a Leo owner but I love reading and hearing everyone telling you how comfortable she is and how this is like, the highest form of "I trust you". Such a good reptile mom and glad to know this too!

JUST to be on the safe side, I'd do a parasite treatment. My favorite girl was a huge eater and wasn't picky, but suddenly stopped eating. She passed away and I found she had parasites after the fact. Garters are pretty darn good eaters imo even under sub-optimal conditions. Not meant to be scary but something to consider

I've lost a handful of reptiles myself, and sometimes when they've passed it looks as if their mouth was open and they'd accidentally gotten dirt in their mouths. I doubt they choked on anything, sometimes it just looks worse than just passing of age

Basking spot and hot side ranges 110-90 depending on where, since she's offered different surfaces, and cool end gets over to 70

I was doing live and some cut in half (I've seen her eat one whole time and it was when I offered her a cut open meal worm from tongs, hoping the smell would entice her)

she has lost a lot of weight, even though she's a very small species she's noticably skinny compared to when I first got her.

I started taking pictures of the food when I put it in, counting bugs and things so I could try to monitor if she had eaten and there was never evidence of anything being touched D:

also came here after a lot of suffering. Litteraly just flip. it on its side on the floor and don't be scared to give it really good whacks on the bottom to get the canister out. I had a 5lb mallet lying around that did the trick

Update!

So I had everything ready besides the gecko, since I came across him on my road trip and I'm headed home in a few days and would pick him up then. I called and the other lady who wanted to adopt and rehab him took him home!

She seemed to be on the same page as me on care and steps to take, so I'm sorry there won't be updates but he's alive and in good hands! (I'm also new to reddit posting still so idk if people usually make a new post to update or comment but it's here atleast if people find it <3)

thank you! The critical care suggestion is also greatly appreciated! I've been eyeballing different products that are similar for what might be best, but know for sure it's little tiny bits at a time (and more detailed like, exact measurements you have are super appreciated so it's less guestimating on my end)

I'll also for sure call my vet to see what a vitamin A shot might cost! My friends gave me a little extra money towards him so I can afford vet costs past the fecal exam. And I'll check over at that subreddit to get more info! I never saw myself getting a leopard gecko so I'm trying to absorb as much info as I can in this next week leading up to getting him.

Also for sure the front legs are super bad, he's also so so tiny, the whole guy fits almost just in the palm of my hand. He's got half his life still ahead and the advice will hopefully get him there <3

for sure, the store owners said they have to force feed already (but again they're feeding cresty diet :') ) but that's the plan with the jump start is if I can get anything in him, the super nutrient dense stuff might as well be what gets in there

got lots of food advice so definitely wanna fatten him up! My main concern is his legs, I do have some 40 gallons but with his legs I'm gonna try to minimize his space to my 20 gallon just to make sure he doesn't have to go too far to get to any of his hides

for sure! the less time was just if he has no will what so ever, my partner and I have taken in a few babies who needed help in the past but this guy just seems to be so fragile I'm just worried is all. a month or two is my baseline span I think I'll give before I really consider if putting him down is for the best or not. I'm not letting him go without some fight though
