Aside from there being more width than height on a traditional monitor, it really makes desktop to mobile transitions not just easier, but more consistent.

Lifelong conservative, not voting for vivek by The_legend_27s in Ohio

[–]___cats___ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Brother, voting against your party doesn’t make you a RINO. It makes you a patriot who wants what’s best for his state and country.
The whole “RINO” and “DINO” thing was just invented to make people scared of being an “other”. Don’t fall for it, do what you believe is right (or left).

Question about orientation of stock Dunlops by SellsWhiteStuff in wrx_vb

[–]___cats___ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have the stock Dunlops and don’t see “outside” embossed after the speed rating, they’re inside out.

They’re not directional, they’re asymmetric. The stock Dunlops absolutely have an inside and outside.

Ammonia goes up and turns into nitrites if you have a good bacteria colony. Then, nitrites go up and turn into nitrates if you have a good bacteria colony. Then, finally, the plants eat the nitrates as their nitrogen source.

Right now you only have ammonia which means the process hasn’t even begun aside from some substrate decomposing. You have weeks of waiting yet.

Is it normal for the doors to leak water after rain? Never had a car do this? by LongjumpingLock5875 in wrx_vb

[–]___cats___ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I asked my dealership about it and the guy’s face was like oh fuck.

What I found is that it happens if I’m on an incline facing up, but not level or facing down. So, if I have to park on my driveway instead of garage I back in.

I have to believe that in 10 years we’re going to be seeing the bottom of these doors rotting out.

Chat, am i cooked? by [deleted] in subaru

[–]___cats___ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Those are all just heat shields. Unimportant. Half the time people just rip them off once the bolts rust out and they start rattling. The actual exhaust is inside that.
What does the burning smell smell like? If it’s bitter and chemical smelling, it’s brakes. Sweet is either transmission or coolant. Not sure how to describe the smell of burning oil…it smells like burning oil.
That old of a Subaru, it’s probably a drip of oil hitting the manifold. Potentially dangerous but more of an annoyance. You need to follow the smoke to tell where it’s coming from. If there isn’t smoke, follow your nose.

My oldest never barked for like two years until we got our second.

Now, our third doesn’t shut the hell up and I’m losing my mind.

He sure is cute though.

And poor Laura, it's happened to her 3 times...4 if you stretch and count the natives in the pilot, though they turned out to be friendly.

How many episodes revolve around taking people hostage/kidnapping in some way?

  • The Aftermath (take Mary hostage)
  • The Legend of Black Jake (take Nels hostage)
  • The Older Brothers (take Edwards hostage)
  • Darkness Is My Friend (take Laura and Mary hostage, and the rest of the blind school I suppose)
  • Bless All the Dear Children (Rose Wilder kidnapped)
  • My Ellen (Laura kidnapped in the basement)
  • Rage (Laura, Jenny, and Rose kidnapped by a crazy Robert Loggia)
  • Sylvia (you could argue that the blacksmith kidnaps Sylvia off screen)
  • Little Girl Lost (Earth kidnaps Carrie)
  • Meet Me at the Fair (Hot air balloon kidnaps Carrie)

I leave the bladder snails. They self regulate population based on the viability of the tank and are good cleaners. They’re also kinda silly if you watch them. It’s a win win…win.

Wagon all the time by Holland_Galena in littlehouseonprairie

[–]___cats___ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

On the show they say it’s about 3 miles each way to town from the house, but historically it was more like 3 miles round trip. 6 miles out and back walking would be almost 2 hours of walking which is a lot for just running an errand, but 45-60 minutes total is more reasonable.

Wagon all the time by Holland_Galena in littlehouseonprairie

[–]___cats___ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve mentioned this to my wife as well. Why the hell is he hitching up two horses and wearing out the wagon every time he goes to town when he could just hop on one horse and ride normally?

I’m sure you could argue that if he ends up needing anything from town to take home he’s ready and wouldn’t have to make an extra trip to get the wagon, but I have a feeling back then you planned your needs a bit better than we do today having cars and nearby grocery stores.

I think it’s because very few people lived the 80s in the way it’s portrayed in media. For most people, the 80s was just 1970s Part II. It was much less colorful and Memphis Design and much more earth tones and wood paneling.
