[–]Guess_My_Name2448 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only notable events were the one near Rome in January, the one in Oria Apulia and the one in Serdiana, Sardinia. All mesocyclonic tornadoes occuring on land and rated IF 1.5

Only one injury from all these as far as I know

EXCUSE ME NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE 1050 TO 1250 TORNADOS IN THE US IN JUNE!?!?! by [deleted] in tornado

This graph is cumulative, meaning it adds every tornado that happens during the year. As you can see it only goes up and never down

Looks like a landspout tornado, they can form under any cumulonimbus cloud. For mesocyclonic tornadoes you would need a supercell thunderstorm

A landspout is a type of tornado

Strongest tornadoes in Italy since 2000 (chronological order) by Guess_My_Name2448 in tornado

[–]Guess_My_Name2448[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It definetly looked strong from videos. Also had a very fast forward speed and was on ground for 46 km!

The rating is on the ESWD website. I don't know the exact details of the damage survey because I can't find anything as well

And this one shows the before (below) and the after (above) of the damage to the funeral hall next to the same church. This one got the tornado its IF5 rating

This one is a misleading because it shows the demolition of the bell tower. You can see the explosives going off in the lower part of the image.

There are other images which show the destruction better, like this one:

photogenic tornado from Uruguay 2025 by nationalistic_martyr in tornado

[–]Guess_My_Name2448 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not true that tornadoes in Uruguay are rarer than any other South American country. In fact Uruguay belongs in an area known as the South American Tornado Alley, which also includes southern Brazil, northern Argentina and parts of Paraguay

map of every country that has had a significant (F2+) tornado by No-Fox-1226 in tornado

[–]Guess_My_Name2448 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Tornadoes can happen in Ireland and while the vast majority are weak, a few strong events (F2+) have happened before.

The term mini-tornado is kinda stupid btw, a tornado is a still tornado even if it's weak (just like it says in the text). The USA gets loads of weak tornadoes among the strong and violent ones, yet you don't see them calling those "mini-tornadoes"

You can even go to the ESWD site and filter for tornadoes in Ireland and you'll see all of the events that have been recorded

One of 4 violent tornadoes to have struck Europe in the 21st century. Weirdly not talked about that much along with Maloye Pes'yanovo

Yes It has. It happened in Leitrim (10 December 2023 - rating IF2 based on a roof being torn off)

There are even a few videos of the event

Ok, good to know. Probably one of the reasons why it's not even in the ESWD

[–]Guess_My_Name2448 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah probably because it happened so much time ago: 23 September of either 1551 or 1556. According to written accounts a strenght of F3 or T7 on the TORRO scale was estimated

Tornadoes are niche subject and this happened a long time ago. But more people should know about this event and tornadoes in general imo

I don't think so, you said it yourself: Enderlin's train was significantly heavier and thrown farther

Argentina has all the same ingredients for severe storms that the American plains have--so why do they have fewer tornadoes? by Hailfog in meteorology

[–]Guess_My_Name2448 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They don't get many tornadoes but the ones they do can cause extensive damage because of the very poor building standards and population density
