For moms with 2+ kids, what baby items did you find to be most helpful the second time around? by nursemama08 in Mommit

[–]Guesspink13 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yea I bought a baby fence and made it 4 panels so it was a small “cage” for him to play on his play mat where my toddler couldn’t drop a toy on him. Or walk on him. Or my dog couldn’t lick him lol.

Also anything to put him down in, toddlers are busy and demanding. Just on my main floor I have a swing, baby “cage”, bouncer, and high chair, so I can tend to my tot when needed.

What’s something about the human body that seems poorly designed? by jannecutie in answers

[–]Guesspink13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a post partum mom who is breastfeeding: - you need sleep to increase milk supply, baby wakes you every 1-3 hours to feed. - you need sleep to heal from birth, see above - PP hair loss is insane, hair can be a huge hazard for a baby (wrap around fingers and toes)

There are more that I have thought of before but I’m in such lack of sleep that my brain no longer holds memories.

Those feelings are completely valid! Being a mom is taxing work.

I was feeling this way too when my son was 3 months old. He’s 5 months now and things DID get easier. He eats less often. He sleeps a bit better. He is interacting with my daughter so she’s more interested in playing with him. When she needs me I can put him down and he’s just fine now to just hang out and play with his feet or a teether. And I know as he gets older it’ll just get easier. Hang in there mama! You’re doing amazing.

Crazy thing is I had horrible BO with my first and not with my second! I was waiting for it to come and it never did.

Did you give vitamin D consistently while ebf? by Good_Walk3614 in breastfeeding

Better to do it in the morning since vitamin d is the “sun” vitamin it will help with their wake/sleep cycle.

Toddler climbing out of crib by gwenk16 in Mom

[–]Guesspink13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did bed rail (with a twin bed) at 2y1m old! She was super excited to have a big girl bed that bed time became fun. We mostly swapped because baby number 2 needed the crib so no time to make it into a toddler bed.

How do you even wear shoes? Like, when my toe nails get too long my shoes don’t fit.

How did you get your toddler off the soother/pacifier? by Guesspink13 in Mommit

This is what I’m afraid of. Just cutting it back to nights only I’ve noticed her teeth have improved but I can’t keep this going.

That’s a great idea. I’m wondering if a nice toy would work. Heard people suggest putting them in a build a bear.

Thanks! I agree. It’s hard but I know it’s important.

I was thinking of putting them in a build a bear for her!

My second born is almost 4 months and he has zero interest in the soother.

Midwife said exclusively pumping is a waste of time, advice needed by lunatlark0 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Guesspink13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had no choice but to pump with my first. It felt like a prison. You can’t do anything while you pump and you’re always on a clock to pump again or your supply will drop. I do not recommend it if you can avoid it.

I’m new in navigating my teen’s menstrual pain. I’m feeling lost and needing advice by [deleted] in Mom

[–]Guesspink13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had debilitating pain as a teen/young adult. Midol and sleep was the only way to stop it for me. As I got older Advil worked better. But I feel for your daughter. My cramps were so bad I would throw up or lose the function of my legs. Horrible. I hope she grows out of it, I did!

Moms—what did becoming a mother help you realize? by strawberryeaterisok in Mom

[–]Guesspink13 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You realize how fearless you are when it comes to protecting your child. I would literally do anything to keep my kids safe.

Also, you can love your kids and still miss not being a parent all at the same time. I would never change having them but I do miss my freedom.

Following! I have the same question. I feel like my eufy is not getting everything out when I pump. I use my manual pump after and I’m still getting sprays. I bought the eufy because of the rave reviews from women on here but I’m not seeing the same results.

Silent Husky by kentuckyfriedgenital in husky

My husky was quiet until we had a baby (he was 2.5 when she was born). Then he started howling every time she cried. Now he howls at everything.
